Find the Best Gran Canaria Hotels

From the moment we arrived and had our first meal we knew this hotel was very nice indeed . So starting with the food the selection was truly amazing at every mealtime and even in the snack . Evening meals we had roasts , fish , tiger prawns , smoked salmon and even caviar WOW ! Huge salad bar and choices of rice pastas and potatoes and veg . If you don’t want formal lunch the snack bar does help yourself burgers sandwiches pizza (to die for ) pasta hotdogs and the usual chips nuggets and fish fingers . Still a big salad bar and gorgeous homemade soup . Great selection in every venue I challenge anyone to be hungry . Drinks plentiful and lager much better than normal Spanish fayre . The rooms are big with very comfy beds and walk in showers they are extremely clean and the maid service is exceptional . The pool is huge and very clean with plentiful sun beds and the adult only spa area is really nice with lots more sun beds this is really neat the snack bar for ease of getting drinks . The entertainment was the usual singer or circus act ok if you like that sort of thing we went out after dinner every night as not our cup of tea . All in all though this hotel is amazing and I’m booking again for next year

Hotel is located near the airport of Las Palmas about 20 minutes in the most inner area of the island. I must say gentleness of the owner who waited for me tonight because the flight and the car rental delivery have caused a little delay. small room with terrace, no lift is available. simple but good breakfast. stayed for one night

Very well welcomed by the owner, unexpected keys delivered as soon as we arrived, then she led us to the apartment where we rent the room, room for 2 , twin beds, comfortable matheses, clean house,washing machine, Sdb shared and kitchen, all necessary available ... We loved, very well for small budget, in houseneck with terrace has the front ...Super meeting with the 2 placed women originating in Sevilla. '..I recommend this stay if you are not demanding and I will repeat ...

We stayed in the suite with jacuzzi, a brilliant self-contained space tastefully decorated and furnished with quality. The garden is large, with a couple of hammocks and the jacuzzi, which was very welcome after a couple of days of strenuous mountain hikes. We had fresh pomegranates from the garden every day. Arold and Alienka are perfect hosts, warm and welcoming and ever available to provide additional information and excellent local tips. Arold's breakfasts, served on a beautiful rooftop terrace, are an inventive delight and he served my wife the best gluten free pancakes she has ever had, as well as managing to give her gluten free bread that actually tasted delicious. A culinary genius. They clearly love their vocation and really enhance the holiday experience. The hotel is in a lovely peaceful location, surrounded by quaint narrow streets. (If you are thinking of hiring a car I'd recommend something small. Our hire car had multiple dents and heavy scratches). We went to four restaurants in the village, all within a 5 minute walk from the hotel, and all were very good. For fine dining, at reasonable prices, we especially loved La Vicaria. The closest restaurant, whose name escapes me, is run by a lovely, but bonkers, guy who serves local Canarian cuisine, basically whatever he fancies and has available, whilst happily chuntering away in Spanish despite being aware that we didn't speak the language. Good fun with excellent food. So, a perfect holiday in a perfect hotel in a perfect location. We hope to be able to return.

Never one to read too much into earlier reviews, I came here with an open mind at a very reasonable price through jet2citybreaks. Wow was that a mistake. The hotel is conveniently located not too far from St. Catalina bus station, about a 10-15 minute walk so easy to get too from the airport, and when you are here it is 2 minutes from the beach - first impressions - tick. The lobby looks nothing like the pictures, it’s dark and unappealing but the man on reception was very friendly and helpful. He even chatted to me about the possibility of keeping the room a little longer on my last day as I have a late flight home. The room itself - this is where you suddenly realise your mistake. I was given an internal room, with a small window opening into a sealed central courtyard - so no airflow at all and a faint smell. The bathroom, also - no ventilation, very dark and in poor repair. Considering it’s 30 degrees currently - I hoped the air con was good but sadly it barely worked. The food service is the next disappointment, you come to realise that the staff are extremely rude - not interested in helping you and wander about glaring at you and pulling plates out from under your nose whilst still eating. The food itself was quite nice, although after only 24 hours my tummy isn’t feeling great. I have checked out and found myself somewhere else to stay. Don’t make the same mistake I have - this is not a nice hotel and you will be seriously disappointed.

Let's start with the good things - the communication with the hotel even before arrival was relatively good, they responded to our inquiries regarding the room location request, but of course they kept giving an answer that they did not commit, but when we arrived, they made a note and gave us the location we wanted (in retrospect, we did not choose well - details below). There are many sun beds around the pool, the room is spacious and the location of the hotel is excellent. Now for the things that disappointed us - we asked for a room in the center facing the pool because of the view but we found that during the whole day there is a very, very strong sun on the balcony to such an extent that it is not possible to sit there all day, it's a shame they didn't put a beach umbrella or a pergola. There was no microwave in our room even though it was supposed to be (we didn't even bother to ask), during the first three days there were massive renovations in the hotel. At first the reception representative told us that it was something specific but it really wasn't, we saw that they had put scaffolding in the rooms next to it to renovate the balconies and also on the roof there was a large team working noisily with a drill and at the same time trucks arrived and unloaded sand into the garden. All this when the hotel was fully booked in one of the most requested weeks of the year. At the entrance to our room there were glasses from the room next door that were probably pushed out for the cleaner to take but they stayed there for 4 whole days. Even though we locked the room, the cleaner entered the room (locking it from the inside has no meaning...). One day the power went out in the gym and none of the hotel staff noticed at all (I went to the reception to inform them) and the hardest thing of all - at breakfast which is in the open bar by the pool there are a lot of pigeons that come and sit on the tables and the bar and the food stalls. Most of the food is enclosed in glass installations, but the surface of the bread and the heater and the drinks and the jams and many other things are exposed to the pigeons that come and sit on them and none of the staff does anything about it. Today there are many solutions for imitating ions even using electronic sound devices. Beyond the fact that it was disgusting, it is simply dangerous, a pigeon sitting on a surface of bread is diseases. Another thing, there is a nice bar by the pool but there is only one bartender/waiter so the waiting time to get a drink is around 25 minutes and the service is not very welcoming either. There are two large and beautiful pools but the water is really cold (it's a shame they don't heat it) and it will be really difficult for smokers. There are no smoking areas at all in the entire hotel except for standing in the strong sun next to a bin in the corner of the pool and restaurant area, unable to sit down and unable to put down a drink. Firstly I came here last year and I highly rated it as a solo or couples retreat. I recommended this hotel to my family one of which is my sister who is pregnant. The hotel management would not reassure us of what they are doing with a couple who has a child with measles. All we asked is if they have seen a doctor to see if it's the measles, are they quarantine if the child has the measles as it can be a health concern to elderly people, pregnant women and people with reduce immune system. They have been spotted around the complex talking and meeting people and it was concerning the hotel were not doing anything about it. We had to go to our tour operator to move us from this hotel. The staff are great and they were told by the management to deny and not say anything about it.
