The boss is very nice. He drove us to and from the hotel and told us how to avoid pitfalls. The hotel environment is very quiet and comfortable, with beautiful scenery around. It is very close to the Ten-mile Gallery. You can rent a car with the boss to ride to the trail to see the scenery. The hotel has complete indoor facilities and good sanitary conditions. It is highly recommended. Especially the room with distant mountain view is worth it. You can see a natural scenery painting at any time without going out.

We had a fantastic stay at the Sugar Hotel for three days. The place is just amazing with the setting in an old sugar factory next to the Li river, especially the lights in the evening creates a warm and romantic atmosphere. We could even see the stars! During the day time we enjoyed the bamboo raft trip, the taichi class, the delicious food at the restaurant (my favourites were the Li River shrimps & the Thaistyle steamed sea bass) and the large buffet breakfast catering for both Western and Chinese. Outstanding was the massage in the Spa which made me leg pain which I had had for several weeks disappear. The entire team is very friendly & kind. Manager Cindy was especially helpful throughout our entire stay e.g. supporting us with the online checkin for our return flight to Beijing as well as asking her colleague Lucy to give me a tour of other room options after we couldn’t sleep that well due to the street noise in the first night (especially lorries). We finally remained in our room and slept well the other nights, but if you are sensible for noise you might want to bring you earplugs just in case or inform the front desk upon arrival. Altogether we can fully recommend the stay at the Sugar House. It is a unique experience!

Was slightly concerned about noise levels reported here but had no issues with that, though room was on the second floor on the restaurant/street side of the building. Simple but appealing room with balcony. All the bathroom fixtures etc worked well. It's a nice guesthouse, not an urban 5-star establishment, so the 5 stars I have left for the facilities are with that proviso in mind; I don't think there was an elevator, for instance. Ate early at the hotel restaurant on the terrace just outside its entrance and very much enjoyed the food--good variety, cooked well. (Unexpectedly, the restaurant was booked full the next morning with a large tour group of some sort, so grabbed a bowl of mifen at a nearby breakfast place instead.) The real reason for leaving this review is to convey my pleasure with the helpfulness of the staff. The English-speaking women manning the reception desks were gone for the day when all power in the building cut out around 11pm. The night manager at the front desk informed me that the entire city was without power, and nothing of this nature had occurred in the past few years. (I went down to check because some hotels in China economize by turning AC off during the night, but it was clear that all power was out for the entire neighborhood at least.) He then kindly handled over a portable power bank for my phone when I mentioned it was running low. Back in bed in the dark I then got an unexpected text that my flight from Guilin to Shanghai the next night had been canceled. Wondering why, the front desk staff told me that heavy storms were expected. This would mean that all other flights would be cancelled too, and anyone like me who had to be elsewhere would be scrambling for any remaining seats the following day. At this point I was worried, as I had an international flight to catch. Remembering the train station not far outside Yangshuo, I asked about train options, and that was when a young woman who works at the hotel named Xiao Yang 小楊 came to my rescue. She pulled out her cell phone, checked the train schedules for me, gave me a couple options, recognized that only a handful of tickets remained on a high-speed rail train leaving from Guilin around midday and arriving in Shanghai before my canceled flight would have arrived. She used our passport info to book me two tickets on the train (fronting what must have been her monthly salary to do so, no questions asked, for which I immediately reimbursed her--download and validate Alipay before arriving in China folks, it's an essential tool). Took a car to the Guilin north rail station the next morning, made some fast friends in the waiting hall, and was then on the way to Shanghai before the storms hit. 小楊's willingness to drop everything and care about the travel woes of a random guest like me allowed me to totally avoid the nightmare of rebooking flights and hotels amid a scrum of other travelers to make it to Shanghai in time. Power came back on at 2am, I returned the power bank in the morning, and Xiao Yang was nowhere to be found. So thank you Xiao Yang, and thank you to the Riverview Hotel for employing people who care about their guests.

From the beginning of booking the hotel, the hotel staff showed a high level of service enthusiasm. They not only answered my questions about room facilities and dining in detail, but also took the initiative to mention the bamboo raft tour project presented by the hotel, which made us full of expectations before we checked in. When arriving at the hotel to check in, the front desk staff once again enthusiastically introduced the relevant arrangements for the bamboo raft tour, including the time, location and precautions of the tour. The meticulous service made us feel particularly intimate. We feel that this hotel is very cost-effective. The hotel has improved the satisfaction of the guests with practical actions, and we are already planning when we leave to stay again next time.

The hotel is very beautiful, and the hardware facilities are great, fully considering the needs of children and adults. Even better than the hardware is the warm and meticulous service. The children have fallen in love with outdoor activities in just two days, and they were reluctant to leave the dogs, cats, brothers and sisters. I came to Yangshuo with my friends on the second day of the new year. The hotel I stayed in was amazing. The hotel is by the Yulong River. You can lie on the bed and see the natural scenery outside. There are hundreds of flowers blooming, the room facilities are also very high, the smart toilet, the projector are super, and the hotel's breakfast is also rich.

This is the perfect hotel for a weekend getaway in Yangshuo .The village area on is a best kept secret and the hotel offers everything you need if you don’t feel like venturing out.The staff was really helpful and they treated us like family .They were always kind and helpful with booking activities.My husband lost his phone and they helped us until we got it back .The rooms were super clean and the breakfast was tasty . . I have stayed at dozen of hotels .This was on the top of the list of best stays/experiences ever. Staff was very hospitable and there for every need of mine. Thank you so much.
