"That afternoon, we made a last-minute decision to cancel our original hotel booking, thinking it would be more convenient to stay on Paifang Street given the rainy weather. We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel! Firstly, its prime location right on Paifang Street makes it incredibly convenient to walk to several major attractions. Secondly, the design is full of thoughtful details, and the hotel feels very new as it hasn't been open long. Every staff member, from the butler to the front desk and restaurant staff, was incredibly friendly! Initially, after reading some reviews, I was a bit concerned about potential street noise. However, we were assigned a room on the 6th floor, and based on my family's experience, aside from a brief minute or two of noticeable noise from the street below around 9 AM, we didn't hear any other street noise at all during our stay. P.S. A minor suggestion for improvement: perhaps because we are a family of four, the waste bins in both the bathroom and the room were a bit on the small side for our needs."
"A friend from Shantou came to Chaozhou for a visit and decided to stay overnight. At about 10 o'clock in the evening, he hurriedly booked Apartment 2808 on Ctrip. Unexpectedly, the apartment manager was also enthusiastic and diligent. He assured us that we could check in in 10 minutes. As soon as we entered the apartment, we were full of surprises. The kitchen, refrigerator, washing machine, and Gongfu tea set were all available. The room was tidy and clean, and even the bathroom was clean and reflective. The bathroom was fully equipped with disposable toiletries. The home hardware was purchased from big brands with quality assurance, such as TOTO's bathroom. His mattress was actually a Slumberland mattress (PS: soft and comfortable, the experience is simply too good to sleep)...
When I got up in the morning, Chaozhou was still raining heavily😂, but I also saw a different rainy scene of Guangji Bridge through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the apartment. The misty Guangji Bridge was like a landscape ink painting with heavy makeup and light makeup, which was also an unexpected gain😄"

"**💡Ambiance:** Rooms in popular tourist destinations typically experience high occupancy, leading to more wear and tear. While not brand new, the hotel's predominantly white design is surprisingly well-maintained, which is quite commendable. The bedding was fresh and clean, free from any strange odors, and didn't cause any skin irritation.
**👯♂️Service:** The staff demonstrated excellent service awareness. It's clear the manager is deeply committed to running the hotel and fostering positive guest relationships, always striving to resolve any issues. The housekeeping staff were also incredibly diligent; I often observed them meticulously cleaning and tidying up when passing by.
**📍Location:** The hotel is situated right inside the scenic area, making it very family-friendly, especially with children. In the mornings, the kids were taken out for a stroll while we enjoyed some extra sleep at the hotel. Shared electric scooters and tricycles are readily available right outside the entrance, offering very convenient transportation.
**🚘Parking:** There are only two 'first-come, first-served' parking spaces directly in front of the hotel. However, the hotel does provide a dedicated parking lot about a ten-minute walk away. When we needed to retrieve our car, the lovely manager kindly lent us an electric bike to ride to the parking lot. I'd suggest the hotel consider offering a shuttle service to and from the remote parking lot. This would be incredibly convenient, as guests typically rely on tricycles or shared e-scooters for getting around the area, meaning there's often no need to drive once parked. With light rail construction ongoing nearby, driving can also be very congested. We didn't use our car at all after parking it for the duration of our stay. A parking shuttle service from the hotel would undoubtedly enhance the overall guest experience.
⭐⭐⭐⭐Overall, our stay was very positive. The convenient transportation options significantly enhanced our travel experience."

"As it's located within the ancient town and on a lower floor, we did encounter some mosquitoes. Otherwise, everything was excellent. The location is fantastic; Kaiyuan Temple, Paifang Street, Guangji Tower, Guangji Bridge, and other attractions are all within easy walking distance. The service was also commendable; the front desk staff were very responsive and helpful with any requests. The price was very affordable, offering excellent value for money."
"The twin room experience this time was great! The width of the two beds is very sufficient, the mattress is moderately firm, and it will not feel crowded when lying down. Even if you live with your companions, you can have your own comfortable sleeping space. The room is clean and tidy as a whole, there is no smell, the lighting and ventilation are very good, and it is very bright without turning on the lights during the day. The bathroom is separated from wet and dry, the toiletries are complete, the hot water supply is stable and the water temperature is suitable. In addition, the room service response is very timely, there is a demand that can be solved soon, the price is very high, I will choose this next time!"

"The inn is conveniently located in the old town, close to the river. The rooms are clean and tidy, and I especially loved the big balcony upstairs – it was so relaxing to sit in the sun, enjoy the view, and admire the flowers. The owner is a local from Chaozhou and was very enthusiastic about recommending nearby attractions and food. It was a fantastic experience! 👍🏻"

"A family of four (two adults, two children) had a truly delightful and memorable trip here. We'll definitely be back!
Before making our booking, I made a point of looking through the negative reviews. One mentioned service not being up to par, another complained about distant parking – and honestly, that just put my mind at ease! 😂
We stayed for a total of five days. I absolutely despise the rushed, checklist-style 'hit-and-run' tours, so a leisurely pace was our top priority. We woke up naturally each day, and the host was incredibly thoughtful. Aside from some helpful WeChat messages and gentle reminders, we experienced absolutely no disturbances.
We didn't bother with detailed planning ourselves. Although we drove to the location, once we'd parked, we were quite content not to move the car again. We opted for the host's recommendation of a local driver-guide to take us around. This meant we avoided any unnecessary detours, didn't have to worry about the hassle of parking at attractions, and could even happily enjoy a couple of drinks!
In short: If you have an interest in history and appreciate the authentic charm and atmosphere of a traditional old residence, choosing this place will absolutely not disappoint."

"You can fully immerse yourself in Teochew culture right here at the hotel, without needing to step out.
While the staff may not be numerous, every single person is wonderful. Unlike the impersonal service often found in chain hotels, this place truly feels like home. Vast and Linda, in particular, are incredibly engaging and helpful – such genuinely lovely people! Even the room service attendant and the cleaning staff always greeted us with warm, friendly smiles.
The cleanliness is also impeccable; there wasn't a speck of dirt anywhere. You could even run barefoot on the outdoor stone paths.
Breakfast is another highlight. Having stayed in several hotels in Chaoshan over the past few days, this was the only one that truly offered authentic Teochew-inspired breakfast options, and everything was incredibly fresh and delicious.
An 'auntie' staff member saw us with our children and kindly offered them some German-made candies with good ingredients. Both the mini-bar selections and the bathroom amenities were also of excellent quality.
The hotel also has a resident cat, Xiongda, who is incredibly adorable with his short legs. When the front desk staff noticed I wanted to pet him, they even offered me a cat treat stick. The next day, I wanted to give Xiongda another treat, but the front desk attendant kindly informed me that he had already had two for the day and couldn't have more. It's clear they genuinely care for the cat and prioritize his well-being.
I'll definitely be visiting other hotels in the 'You Xiong' series in the future. What particularly impressed me was noticing, while walking around, that the hotel is equipped with an AED. This suggests the owner is truly thoughtful and responsible – very impressive!
However, one minor point for improvement is that the room felt a little too much like a display suite, making it perhaps a bit too business-oriented for a relaxing holiday."

"The location is superb, right at the entrance of the ancient city. You can go shoot night scenes at 10 PM and capture the empty city at 8 AM. There's a food street right outside, making dining very convenient. The hotel even provides disposable toothbrushes, combs, and shower caps. Free tea is available at the entrance, and complimentary fruit and snacks are offered from 1 PM to 5 PM. The front desk staff is very enthusiastic, and all the aunties (staff) are very friendly."

"During my stay, the breakfast was quite basic and just okay.
The room was very clean, considering it's a new hotel.
For internet, I decided to use my own data plan. I used a hotspot for my computer, as the hotel's internet was terrible.
The lighting was okay, but I would have liked a little more.
Overall, it was a very good value and a very comfortable stay."

The hotel's meticulous attention to detail is truly impressive, making us want to stay indefinitely. It made the service at other five-star hotels feel completely inferior. The complimentary offerings, from afternoon tea, coffee, cakes, and pastries to a late-night bowl of noodles and even breakfast, were all incredibly delicious. The coffee, in particular, was aromatic and came with 24-hour free refills. Even the toothpaste provided was imported, and mineral water was used for brewing tea. All the other recreational facilities were also excellent. Thank you for giving us such wonderful memories. We are definitely planning a second visit and hope it remains excellent as always. ☺️

GGusufanrenStaying at this guesthouse instantly felt like coming home. I wished I could stay another day, but unfortunately, there were no rooms available. Next time I visit Chaozhou, I'll definitely make sure to book well in advance.
**Hygiene:** Easily the cleanest guesthouse I've ever stayed in. It's clear the owner puts a lot of thought and effort into every detail. The room even had a dehumidifier with a built-in clothes rack above it – perfect for drying laundry in just a few hours after washing!
**Environment:** The design is fantastic, beautifully laid out with a charming, multi-layered feel. It's perfectly situated in the heart of the ancient city, with all the scenic spots within walking distance. For transportation, it's just a minute's walk to the Kaiyuan Road/Yi'an Road intersection where you can easily hail a taxi. Even better, the owner can arrange a taxi for you, which will pick you up right at the guesthouse entrance – incredibly convenient.
**Service:** The service was exceptional! The owner even helped us with our luggage. We were offered traditional Gongfu tea, and the owner enthusiastically shared insights, like how 'Duck **** Fragrance' tea from Pingkengtou, Fenghuang Mountain, is considered the finest from its original source. They also provided a Chaozhou map, added us on WeChat to send a comprehensive food guide, and gave patient, detailed explanations for everything.

GGuest UserAbsolutely delighted! (Just a note: the photos were taken at checkout, so the bed's a bit dishevelled!)
I'd seen reviews raving about how surprisingly good it was and thought they might be exaggerating, but it genuinely exceeded my expectations! It's impeccably clean and tidy, all the facilities look brand new, and the room felt incredibly spacious. We had a truly comfortable stay!
I particularly appreciated the wet/dry bathroom separation, with the washbasin cleverly placed in between.
The location is excellent too; there are plenty of delicious food options nearby. It's just a leisurely 10-minute electric scooter ride to Paifang Street in the ancient city. Most importantly, it was incredibly quiet at night, ensuring a peaceful sleep!
The owner is very friendly and helpful, offering great travel recommendations. Plus, you can even rent electric scooters directly from them!

FfafafoofooDuring my recent stay at the Homeinn Plus Chauzhou Hotel, I encountered a rather mixed experience that I feel compelled to share. Upon entering my room, I was immediately struck by an unpleasant odor that lingered in the air, making it difficult to relax. The smell seemed to be a combination of stale air and something musty, which certainly put a damper on my first impression of the hotel.
Despite the initial setback, I found the hotel staff to be exceptionally helpful and accommodating. After expressing my concerns at the front desk, the receptionist was quick to apologize and offered to reallocate me to a different room. I appreciated their responsiveness and willingness to rectify the situation, which significantly improved my experience.
The new room was a breath of fresh air—literally. It was clean, well-maintained, and free of any unpleasant odors. I was grateful for the staff's prompt action, which allowed me to enjoy the rest of my stay without any lingering discomfort. The amenities in the new room were satisfactory, with comfortable bedding and a nice view of the surrounding area.
While my initial room left much to be desired, the positive attitude and efficiency of the hotel staff made a significant difference. Their commitment to customer satisfaction transformed a potentially negative experience into a more pleasant one. In conclusion, while I cannot overlook the issue of the stinky room, the helpfulness of the staff in reallocating me to a better accommodation certainly deserves recognition. I would consider returning to the Sunshine Hotel in the future, but I hope they can address the odor issue in their rooms to enhance guest satisfaction overall.

PPaul. SThe best part of this place is the location, right behind YUY Hotel at the junction of Paifang Street (Taiping Rd) and Xima Road. You can just walk a few minutes to Kaiyuan Temple, Guangji Gate and Guangji Bridge. At 5.30pm, they remove the pontoons in the middle of the bridge and at 8pm, there is a light show. Food is abundantly found in the surrounding streets. Access to this hotel is via the 2 lanes beside YUY Hotel from Paifang street or Xima Road. The boss and his wife communicate in Mandarin, so Google translate will come in handy. Before checking in, you need to inform the inn of the time of arrival so that the boss can meet you. We were given a key card and complete freedom to go in and out anytime. The place is quiet and very clean. It is also quite new. Amenities are good quality, towels and bedding all good. Perfect for an independent traveller. Hosts are friendly and helpful. There is a washing machine and place for drying clothes on the rooftop. If you come from Chaosan train station, take bus K2 and stop at the Central Hospital opposite West Lake and walk to the inn in about 10-15mins. Make sure you have WeChat installed in your phone to communicate with the host.

GGuest UserFacilities: Excellent and very new.
Cleanliness: Spotless! I even told the cleaning staff it was clean enough, but she clearly has incredibly high standards for herself.
Ambiance: Very pleasant, a quiet oasis tucked away in a bustling neighborhood.
Service: I was quite annoyed with the room key issue. We were staying for consecutive nights, and after a tiring evening exploring the night market, we returned to our room on the sixth floor only to find the key card wasn't working. I sent my child to the front desk to get it reactivated. She came back saying it was fixed, but it still didn't work. I then had to go down *with* my child myself to the front desk to ensure it was properly reactivated before making another trek back up. It was genuinely exhausting.
Suggestion: It's quite inconvenient to have to reactivate the room key at the front desk when extending a stay. Most hotels allow guests to simply continue using their existing key without this extra step. I hope this process can be improved, especially given how busy the elevators already are.
AAnni was never disappointed with Ji hotels. The room plan is well designed and practical. The electric bidet is nice esp. during winter with a warm seat. The room is spacious for 2 persons. They also provide 6 or 8 bottles(I forgot the exact number.) of drinking water in the room. The amenities are all provided. The ancient city is around 2 km away. If the weather is nice, you can enjoy the walk actually.

Friendly and warm operators would chat and recommend visitors. OOTD 👍 . Location in between the ancient city streets and the main streets public transportation and non touristy restaurants requires foot power, do recommends rent a e-bike from retail shop as ******* ebike zonal restrictions in effect. The toilet area needs some work as water pooling due to the gradient floor, not towards the gutter. Safe area to travel even walking in middle of night.

WWindyZhouNext to Guangji Tower, the location is very convenient. It is very close to the ancient city attractions and food. The hotel itself is quiet in the alley. The decoration of the small building is antique and very unique, and the room is very clean. Special thanks to Xiao Ding and Xiao Zhang at the front desk for their warm and thoughtful hospitality and for contacting us in advance to make arrangements, which made our trip to Chaozhou more enjoyable.
