PROS: lovely hotel, clean, spacious Jr suite with Mt Blanc view, private balcony, heated bath floors, exterior electric window shades to block light/road noise, air conditioning, mini fridge, safe, fireplace, on-site pool/spa, 2 restaurants, English-speaking staff, free shuttle around Chamonix upon request. Although some guests find the location adjacent to a busy road with traffic to be troublesome, it did not bother us at all especially at night when closing the exterior window shades made it comfortably quiet inside. CONS: housekeeping may be performed at any time daily between 8:30 am to 4:30 pm at the hotel's convenience; as a general rule in Chamonix, if you intend to visit the mountains, you must plan on doing it early in the morning (from 6 am) to avoid clouds or rain in the afternoon (i.e. you are likely to return from the mountains to the hotel after lunch for a break/rest). If your room hasn't been serviced by 2 pm, you will be frustrated that you need to be out of the room for an undetermined time until housekeeping is complete. In addition, the hotel was a splurge for us; at a daily rate in excess of US$600 via *******, we are not likely to stay again. This was our 5th stay in Chamonix. Hameau was nice, but especially since it did not include any meals (breakfast alone was an additional 39 euros each per day, but we enjoyed takeout from a nearby patisserie instead), it was not a price point we would seek again. We knew this in advance but decided to treat ourselves since Hameau is one of the few hotels in town with air conditioning.
