Stayed one night at the Pheasant on a midweek break. It turned out that we arrived on the first snowy day of the year. If anything, the snow added to the already considerable charm of the old inn, nestled in a fold of the Peckforton hills. We were greeted by the hardworking and personable Alisha, who looked after us brilliantly during our stay. We were quickly checked in and directed to our room in the old barn. The room was very comfortable and wonderfully warm, which was welcome, given that the external temperatures were hovering around zero. Standards of housekeeping are impeccable at the Pheasant. The bedroom and bathroom were extremely clean and appeared to have been refurbished relatively recently. The double bed was very comfortable and sleep quality was good. Tea and coffee making facilities were provided. The bathroom was equipped with high quality toiletries. Drinks and dinner at the inn made for a highly enjoyable evening. The food is high-end gastropub and was appreciated by both of us. Breakfast the following day consisted of a wide choice of cereals and juices. There was also an extensive cooked menu. The “full English” was excellent. The stay flew by, and we were sorry to leave. It certainly won’t, however, be our last visit. This wonderful old inn offers visitors the finest traditional British hospitality. It is comfortable, informal and welcoming. The staff are outstanding. Recommended in the highest possible terms.

Set in a rural village in Cheshire, in a beautiful setting. This really has been a lovely experience for us. Accommodation is beautiful. I explained I was allergic to their feather down bedding so they changed it over without any problem. We had a wonderful meal in the restaurant as well. Staff were extremely friendly and attentive to all of our needs. Very knowledgeable and great communication. Very reasonably priced for excellent quality in all areas. Thank you for making us feel very welcome.

Fabulous overnight stay meeting up with friends. The 6 of us stayed in rooms in the barn and they were gorgeous with huge comfy beds a clean bathroom with funky wall tiles and high end bathroom products. Great tea & coffee supplied in the room too. We had drinks and snacks early afternoon and then two course dinners in the evening followed by breakfast. All meals were delish and very well presented. Loved the options for furry friends although we didn’t have any dogs with us, but great idea! Staff were all excellent and so friendly and helpful. They were so patient with us when we were last in the bar by a long chalk and they just let us carry on with our catch up whilst keeping us well supported with food & drinks. We will All be back! Fabulous little place!

My daughter and I stayed here as we attended Bolesworth international at the weekend. Very convenient as only a few miles drive The things that stood out for us was : •the absolutely incredible food (honestly did not expect this level of cuisine here) the dishes were inventive , the flavours to die for and the portions were huge ! Do not lose this chef guys ! •2 members of staff stood out , Mille and a lovely foreign lady with long dark hair - 2 genuinely sweet people who could not do enough to make our stay exceptional, they are a real credit to you. •the views from the room and the room itself was spotless , very nice interior design you can tell a lot of thought gone into it, shower was so good! Negatives : front of house / reception person a little frosty/snappy. Not genuinely welcoming. Seemed a chore for them. Room very very small. Paid quite a lot for b&b so expected it a little larger Champagne by the glass was not cold as it should be or fizzy as it should be. Paid a lot for it so should be perfect. Conditioner in the rooms please. Room service menu would be lovely ! Which is why only 4 stars not 5. But on the whole a really lovely pleasant stay and we hope to book again next year !

Visited with a group of friends. Quite a challenge to get to the Pheasant down dark narrow roads but the pub itself was excellent. Very warm, beautiful Christmas decorations - good selection of cask ales. Staff very attentive and meal went well - steak pie and fish pie particularly well received. The one down side and it is not just the Pheasant but many other pubs is that cheese and biscuits (my favourite dessert!) is £14!

Visited The Pheasant Inn, Chester in early November 2024 for a meal with my wife. We started our meal with the Garlic bread and Scotch Eggs, followed by two ribeye steak and Chips - the meal was delicious but the service in the restaurant was a little slow.

I was surprised when my daughter booked this venue for us to meet up. It wasn't the easiest place to find, but was well worth the mistory journey. Unfortunately for us the light was fading and the weather was wet. You could however see the attraction of this place as the views are truly breathtaking. I truly look forward to going back soon during a spring or summer day or evening. The food, service and ambitious is 1st class. Worth the effort in finding it. You can't be disappointed

The coffee & drinks were pleasant after a long walk around Bulkeley Hill (approximately 6 kilometres). Although the bar tender (Grey & Old Man) was rather abrupt & rude. I would return but hopefully the service is improved and it would improve the overall experience.
