There are many structures in Italy that date back to 1100 and earlier. Some have been well restored and repurposed for the comfort of travellers who want to be surrounded by beauty, enriched with culture and treated like royalty. This is one of those properties. None of this could be possible without people: Helena, the architect of the project, her gracious husband and partner Eduardo and Laura, Eduardo's mother, a sommelier, great host and keeper of recipes I am trying to acquire. I registered for three days, stayed for five and left because I had other commitments. Location is ideal for the Brunello experience in Montalcino, the Pecorino cheese phenomenon of Pieza (look for the shop jammed with eager customers), the compelling hill town of Montepulciano and numerous other Tuscany villages, restaurants and lovely folks. Terrific value, very comfortable and well appointed interior design. The villa is in the beautiful hills just outside the pleasant town of Buonconvento.

The concept is to renovate village houses into hotel rooms while providing breakfast and other amenities in another building. The rooms were nice, not great, but I still loved the concept. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served at the ”Palazzo” a few hundred meters away on a semi-covered outdoor patio. Breakfast was excellent but in late September it can feel like camping out. Shivering while sipping your coffee is not quite a luxury experience. We were here on a bike tour. We have toured throughout Europe and many times in Italy. This is the very first hotel I have ever encountered which charges to store bikes in a garage: 5 euros per bike per night. We were there for 6 days. I could understand if we had e-bikes that needed to be plugged into a power source, but ours were just leaned against the wall - for 5 euros each per night. Also be aware that the pool is off limits unless you are staying in the Palazzo. And the nice outdoor patio, you can only use it if you buy drinks from the bar. Lastly the staff at the front desk were thoroughly disagreeable. It was as if they didn't understand that we were the guests and their job was to welcome and assist us, not that we asked for much more than room keys. Having said that, the restaurant staff were gracious, friendly and accommodating. Again, I loved the concept, but the execution needs some work. Would I stay here again? Nope.

Structure in the historic centre of Pienza, from an old monastery, service and top-top reception, should only be equipped with some rooms with a 4-star accessory (kit courtesy, But for the rest, it is a nice place. The swimming pool with a wonderful view, a restaurant with customer service and care at the highest levels (good to all the boys and the owner) even if used for a dish, a fantastic breakfast with so many local products. Although the hotel staff is courteous and the service is very good, I feel not satisfied with this room here, and I don’t attach expectations, because it seems to live in B&B. The room is clean, Breakfast to walk to the main building of the hotel opposite the place, not in the main building, but very close... We booked a week in this facility. What to say ... was all spectacular! The beautiful, wide room (although it would need a new renovated) and above all very clean. Breakfast really good: wonderful cakes, different mornings, salty cakes, sauces and cheese with hot bread, pancakes ( sofas, which my husband loved). The small but very beautiful pool, we used it some afternoon to look for a little cold. The pool fabrics are provided by the facility. Very comfortable and available staff: we felt really cockooted (especially a couple of Campania staff boys with whom we often stopped talking, and who sometimes advised us). All really very nice, it's a pity that the holiday is over ... Compliments for this nice reality, made especially by young people, and we hope to come back soon!
