Premier Inn Birmingham Central Hagley Road

I visited on my own and have mixed feelings about the hotel. On arrival the TGIF next door looks a complete eyesore as it is closed down, the car park was rough with lots of litter and several spaces had broken glass in them which looked worrying. Receptionist was very friendly and room was quiet so I had a good sleep both nights I was there. Shower gel had ran out and only the one towel in the room. One evening I went in the restaurant which was large but closed to the public with locks on the front door. There was around 10 people in there and there was just no atmosphere and only drink on tap was Guinness. Food was better than expected and the Meal Deal was great value. Had breakfast one morning and it was just ok. All staff were very friendly at the hotel.

Easy, free parking and all that you expect from a Premier Inn. A very quiet hotel, very clean, windows that open slightly was a welcomed treat in this day and age. The TGIF next door is an eyesore as it is closed down, so the car park looked a little rough, but parking was available on the doorstep of hotel and all felt safe and secure. Akbar's restaurant was fabulous, A1 food and service.

Not too shabby. Clean room. Spacious with good facilities. Helpful staff with plenty of parking. Restaurant on site for guests only. Be aware it's hard to turn right at times coming from motorway. Regular bus service into city. Tram starts a mile away.

Bed was comfortable. Room was warm. Dried in food stains on couch. Staff promised to have it cleaned the next day but it never happened for 3 nights. Just one towel in the bathroom for a room booked for two. Initial room allocated had strong body odour maybe from previous occupants.

Don’t want to leave overly negative review as the bed was comfy and the room had a window you could open(hate stuffy rooms even with aircon), but on arrival we were told they don’t do early check in even tho the website said they do(turns out they should). We weren’t as early as we thought otherwise this could have been a problem. Staff were friendly enough apart from the early check in thing, room needs so repairs, tap was hanging off in the sink and the bath one was wobbly, it did all work though. There seemed to be some kind of issue with the kitchen and general staffing, I’ve never stopped in a premier inn where the breakfast wasn’t a buffet, it was order to table and wasn’t nice, poached eggs were good, sausages were so undercooked they were wet in the middle. Bacon was just about done and the beans tasted like they had been reheated for a week, had to wait for someone to bring bread out just to make toast and I heard similar complaints from a few other tables, one lady told me the breakfast was horrible, if you ever read this thanks for the warning as I may have eaten undercooked meat without paying much attention, would have took photos or complained but we were pushed for time as had to travel back to relieve baby sitters and see to pets. This may be an understaffing issue? The young lady on reception seemed to be doing half a dozen different jobs, she was certainly no slouch so don’t want a review to reflect badly on her. Would we stop again, probably as it was comfy enough and cheap enough, but I certainly wouldn’t book breakfast!

Really enjoyed our stay and was made to feel so welcome by the receptionist abbey, who informed us it was her first day, we would never have guessed as she was a natural. Room was very clean and comfortable. Bar staff were very friendly especially lucy. Looking forward to breakfast in the morning which was recommended by abbey.
