Good stopover, with lovely gardens and decent food, at a very reasonable price (via Best Western website, signing up to their loyalty scheme). Perhaps a bit out of the way for a walk into the town in the evening, and old-fashioned in various ways, but the parking was easy and the hotel itself is a destination. The bar and restaurant were a bit lacking in atmosphere when we were staying - presumably can get very busy with weddings. There was a vegetarian restaurant menu, which was a bonus. Wine was OK and well priced. There weren't many beers on tap. We were in the ”Georgian” annex. The decor was fine by us, but could have been freshened up a bit. The shower was very modern. Bed was comfortable. The room would have benefitted from a mini-fridge for fresh milk. And the TV didn't allow connection via HDMI. Otherwise fine, with plenty of space. No air con, but wasn't hot and sash window could be opened, which is better.

We stayed two nights at The Elms, had dinner at the hotel the first night, and ate out the second night. Starting on a positive, the food in the restaurant was perfect. Delicious and served hot. Unfortunately, I can't be as positive about the accommodation. We were in the stable block, on the first floor. I have never heard such noisy stairs and corridors to access the room. Then again in the room, which to be fair, although small, was comfortable - but the floorboards were the noisiest I've ever experienced. This is really an issue, and needs to be sorted. I feel sorry for anyone in the room below us, having to listen to that racket every time we moved around the room. We were disturbed by other guests arriving quite late - not because they were be loud, but because of the noise of them walking up the stairs and along the corridor to their room. We stayed when the weather was very hot, and although the room did provide a fan, which was thoughtful, it was a small desk fan, and completely inadequate for the room. The plug in the bathroom sink had lost its rubber seal, so you couldn't have a wash/shave with a bowlful of water. The pillows were lumpy, and very uncomfortable to sleep on. The Elms is a nice hotel, and the staff were very pleasant. But I would not be able to recommend anyone staying there, at least until the maintenance issues are dealt with.

Although the location is a bit remote, driving and parking are very convenient, the key price is very high, the facilities in the room are ok, and the bed is more comfortable!

We stayed here the night before we were due to fly from Robin Hood airport and what a gem of a hotel! Staff went above and beyond to make our stay laid back and comfortable. Simon the duty manager was very friendly and helpful! Simon preempted our needs and approached us to arrange our transport to the airport with out us having to ask! The customer service we received was far greater than any other chain hotel we’ve stayed at. The breakfast has an extensive choice and although it was busy in the morning it was managed very well! The room was comfortable and met all our requirements for our stay. Overall a nice night away before we go on holiday! Thank you!

We have stayed here before and were happy to return. However this time the walk-in shower had lots of black mould, there was a nasty smell from the basin, and the pillows were thin, lumpy and uncomfortable. The restaurant was very good despite being short staffed, and the food was excellent, well priced with generous portions. If the cleaning issues are addressed we would use this hotel again.

A fabulous stay in a family premium room. The hotel is very clean, modern and has all the bits you would want such as a vending machine, microwave and even a baby bottle machine. We needed to heat our bottles up and knowing how easy it would be, took a lot of stress away. The room was spacious, clean and had some nice added touches such as bean bags, biscuits coffee and tea and little pegs lower down for the little legs of the family. My only criticism/recommendation would be some form of door between the lounge/main area and the children’s beds. It’s difficult for parents to watch tv etc whilst children are trying to sleep. We had a great view of the park and saw tapir, wolves and Mara which the children loved. The breakfast the next day was delicious with plenty of choice! My only issue was the amount of time it took to be seated. All in all, a great experience enjoyed by all the family.

Hotel was beautiful and clean. Service was great. Very friendly. Would visit again
