We stayed here for 1 night as visiting basel as we were told it's cheaper to stay in France but when you add up the cost of travel it doesn't add up. My advise stay in basel and get a basel card as if you stay in a basel city hotel you get a basel card which gives you free travel on trams and buses and discount to museums We paid 50 pounds to stay here 1 night on a Saturday night but had we payed 100 pounds to stay at hotel in basel we would of been around £20 quid better off as we used trams busses and visited museums. Hotel is literally 1 minutes walk from the border of France and Switzerland can't miss it. The hotel is very basic small double bed quite hard but fine and little kitchen in same room. Bathroom was ok but like the room needs updating. Shower was fine pressure ok and water was hot. Never ate at breakfast so couldn't comment. Pool at hotel but never used so again can't comment. Check in wasn't great as door to place is locked so had to ring intercom for ages to get in.. The receptionist in the morning was helpful and polite. We got a coffee and a pastry from coffee shop nearly opposite the hotel. We got a cab from hotel for 17 euro to three countries bridge which we crossed from France into Germany then across another bridge back into Switzerland.

We were on the tattoo. The location is excellent for this. The reception was friendly and speedy. The room was pleasantly large and equipped with everything you need so. The wet cell was also large and equipped with everything. The beds are very good and comfortable. The hotel is quiet, we have been sleeping well. We will stay here again.
The high price for breakfast buffet was negative for us. We had a elsewhere.

I booked a night in a single room with Lavabo - the price is currently at 95,- CHF + 4,- courtage. I am not in a hotel because I wanted to save money and Switzerland is much more expensive than Germany. Benefits of youth hostels: The booking includes a Basel card that allows you to use all the public service free of charge. Furthermore, you pay only 50% of the entry at museums etc. Another advantage: the location of the youth heritage very central, but still quiet (only with regard to the city event), in the old town very close to the Rhine. You can walk to the center. The neighborhood is idyllic. I had a room with windows on the opposite side of the Rhine, there cooled it in spite of a hot summer day in the night nicely from another advantage: breakfast is quite good, it is already ready from 6:00, and the coffee/cappucino from the machine is of high quality. However, one must pay for a cappucino outside the breakfast hours CHF 4.00. A room without shower/WC with Lavabo is easy because there are enough toilets and single showers available on the floor. And a good shower bathtub was to be borrowed for 3,- CHF. The staff of the youth hostels were very friendly. Most other guests do not, often my greeting was not answered on the hall. Now to the disadvantages that weigh more seriously for my needs than the benefits: first of all the relative brightness. Relatively because the construction substance appears normal in this respect, but the behaviour of other guests is ignorant. At the time of my stay, many families with small children were present, some of which let their children cry unremittingly (without pain or dispute) - the children cry partly for fun at crying, in the rooms, but also, Because it is so beautiful in the concrete halls, and well because the parents thought that all could be left in a youth hostel. I didn't say anything to these families because I know from experience that it doesn't bring anything and because I just stayed a night. But I have spoken to the staff, but nothing has been done (that is probably also useless for them). I myself visited Basel to look at a lot of art, and I am a guy who needs a guest room as a place of withdrawal even daily to get back. The impressions in this interesting city are overwhelming. This youth hostel is not suitable for this. I could only sleep with earstops, and that's only uncomfortable. Unfortunately, the room can only be obtained from 15:00 - I would have wished to be able to rest a little before and make me fresh after the long arrival of a hot day (but probably it would have been too loud to rest). In the room there are no hooks or similar to hang towels or clothes. Also in the toilets

It was not bad to stay in a youth hostel for the first time. There is a young lady at the front desk during the day who is very enthusiastic. But when I returned to the hostel at ten o'clock in the evening, there was no one at the front desk. I called the service call and was answered by a man. The man's service attitude was not very good, he was very impatient, and he had no sense of service. The four-person all-female room I chose was pretty good, but there was only one USB plug on the bedside, which was not very convenient for charging. But overall it's quite clean and the equipment is relatively new.
Book your room at the new ibis budget Basel City at an affordable price. The modern, bright rooms have AC, free WIFI, flat screen TV and the comfortable Sweet Bed by ibis budget beds. Thanks to its central location, few min. away from the SBB train station, many attractions, St. Jakob Park and Messe Basel can be reached on foot or by public transport. Look forward to a great stay at a fantastic price.

I have stayed in many Ibis budget hotels and this was by far one of the best ones. The ladies at reception were extremely friendly and helpful and the gentleman who was in charge of breakfast provided first class service. All hotel staff spoke German, French and English and were very approachable. The room was nice and tidy. I was given a Basel card at the hotel, which allowed me to use public transport free of charge and provided access to various museums with half price entry. Although this hotel is a 15-minute walk from the train station Basel SBB, there are 2 trams that one can take from Basel SBB that lead to a tram stop, which is a 2-minute walk from the hotel. I had a great time here and can highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Basel. Thanks to the Ibis team for a great time there!

This hotel is within walking distance from the SBB train station, staff at the hotel are very friendly and speak very good English. I was very grateful for the early check in without any quibble with the receptionist, and she explained how we can get around. Room was very comfortable and clean. Breakfast had a good choice of hot and cold foods, with variations every day. I would definitely stay here again. The only discomfort with our room was the temperature in our room was set to 19C, which was comfortable during the day, but was a bit too hot for the night for us, and we couldn’t lower the temperature down.

Good location if you are traveling on public transport. We came from Colmar by train and the hotel is only a short taxi ride from the station. It is not an area for cafes, restaurants etc. as there is nothing around. There is a tram just up from the hotel and you can take this into the heart if the city. We didn’t as it was only an overnight stay and we were too tired. We contented ourselves with a snack from a machine in the lobby. The room was small but for one or two nights not a problem. Bed was comfortable, water hot and WiFi good. We left too early for breakfast so can’t comment on the food. The young lady on reception was very helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend for short stays. Great value for the price we paid, AU$97.

We booked a room on hotels.com. The room we were given had nothing to do with what we paid for, and we changed rooms after given a dirty room with no designer lamps, and bed side lamps were missing. It looked like they were doing work in the room and last minute decided to move out because there was a booking. Terrible pillows, horrible blankets, not what normal respectable hotels would use, especially when you are promoting yourself as such. The management has deliberately put wrong pictures on the internet, because they only show pictures of one building, which is less horrible. The one we stayed in is only partially shown, but in actual fact looks like it is about to be demolished. Inside there was work going on, walls were dirty and virtually no decoration on them. Ceiling lights did not wok, fridge neither. We tried to have a coffee in the entrance of the building but a worker told us it was not working...went to mention it and got attitude back from a stressed out concierge, who had no empathy for people who are on holiday, having a bad time in her mismanaged hotel! We just asked for refund and left. Life is too short for bad attitude in hotels that lie to clients about what they offer. Disgraceful.
Very Good

Outstanding
GGuest UserHotel is conveniently located less than five minutes’ walk (with luggage) from Basel SBB. We were greeted by a genuinely friendly receptionist, who informed us that we had been upgraded. Well, we arrived at the “room,” which turned out to be a suite with dining/conference area, two bathrooms, a soaking tub, and a panaromic view of the Basel skyline. The dining/living area and bedroom were separate, each with individually controlled A/C. The weather was actually very cool and pleasant for late June, so the A/C was sufficient. That said, if it had been hotter, I’m not sure if the A/C in the bedroom would have quite enough for me, but I’m an extremely picky customer when it comes to air conditioning. In general, Switzerland is a tough place if you need your room at 19 Celcius/69 Farenheit. The living room, though, was able to get very cold. The in-house dining and beverage options were fantastic. There’s a more formal restaurant on the mezzanine above the lobby, where I enjoyed a great meal that worked around my dietary restrictions. Downstairs, there’s a patio restaurant/cafe, and a stylish indoor bar with a midcentury Milanese aesthetic. Honestly, I was surprised it wasn’t busier, but that might have been because we were staying midweek, right after Art Basel. Overall, I very highly recommend. Probably best suited to business travel, but it didn’t feel impersonal, or lacking in personality or style. On the contrary, it was comfortable and contemporary, with a few modernist touches that elevated the look and feel of the property.
AAnonymous UserLocation: Just a short distance from the train station🚉The transportation is very convenient, and there are various trams that can reach where you want to go. The location of the hotel can be said to be quiet in the bustle, very suitable for travel or business trips🏨
Hygiene: It looks very clean, and everything meets the standards of a germaphobe. The bathroom is also very spacious, and it is also equipped with hand cream. It can be regarded as a considerate service in a comfortable hotel👏🏻
Room size: The space is spacious, the windows are large and bright, and it is also equipped with an exercise bike and a yoga mat. What an unexpected surprise. Looking out the room window, you can see the cars passing by and the locals playing freely, Switzerland. It seems that one’s little life is really joyful.
GGuest UserWe had a two day stay at this hotel on the way to Paris. This is a charming hotel with a historic facade but modern and renovated interior. We had the Queen room and whilst only 20 sq mtrs felt very spacious. Location is prefect for those with luggage and arriving by train as the station is across the road. We had a lovely view of the station and no noise could be heard with the windows closed. We often opened the windows to soak up the atmosphere of the trams and buskers and the hustle and bustle of the station. The old town is not far away and easily walkable but the hotel provides free public transport cards which makes it even easier to visit the city and surrounds. Some lovely old buildings and a marketplace to visit. We did not have breakfast at this hotel but there is a large supermarket next door where drinks, food, bakery items can be purchased. The bar/ restaurant downstairs has inside and outside seating with the outside area great for watching people and the station happenings. If we return this would be our hotel of choice. Switzerland is a very expensive country so expect to pay a lot more for drink and food than you do at home. A block away is Markthalle an upmarket food court with cuisines from all over the world. We ate here both nights as the food was so good.
GGuest UserA family owned hôtel with a very good service at a central location in Basel. Nothing to complain my stay was perfect and I would highly recommend the hotel! For the quality/price relation you don’t get any better …
JJB SimeonNovotel was a nice place to stay for our overnight in Basel. Easy check-in and check-out so we had no problems at reception. Our train left very early the next day so they kindly prepared our breakfast to take away which included 2 sandwiches and 2 bottles of water for each person. I can't say much about the facilities since we didn't get to explore but the hotel was a convenient location to get to Basel SBB. The reception staff also helped us book a taxi which we were thankful for as fewer trams went around the city so early in the morning. We were also given a Visitor Pass to travel around the city so the trams were free and we got a discount at the museum we went to. The only downside was there wasn't a convenience store nearby or maybe there was but we didn't get to see one immediately. Thanks, Novotel!
GGuest UserThe breakfast is rich and worthy of praise. The room is spacious, bright, quiet and very clean. A hotel worth recommending, within walking distance of the convention and exhibition center.
GGuest UserReally great hostel for seeing the sights of Basel. Location was close to the Basel SBB train station and trams going into the main part of Basel. You can also easily walk. I stayed in an 8 bed female dorm, which had comfy beds. Each bed has it's own locker assigned with key provided by the hostel. There is a good kitchen with a fridge for guests to use, as well as table space to sit and eat. Showers are spacious and not on a timer. The Basel card they give you at check in is great for discounts on museum tickets and free public transport. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable and checking in was straightforward. I would recommend as a place to stay to explore beautiful Basel.
AAnonymous UserThe rooms are absolutely fabulous. I had booked the basic room and it was huge. Really affordable as well for the location. Although, it is still around 20-25 min walk away from the main tourist attractions.
IIceIce68I’m travelling with family of 8ppls and staying in this hotel for 2nights. Out of 4rooms, all 3 rooms with issue like smelly room (like dead body inside the room), only one lightbulb is working, door knob got issue, stuffy room.. too many issue that we don’t know where shud we start to complaint. Old hotel and need a lot improvement. Check in staff is friendly. Breakfast consider average. No photo because nothing to shot out with.
Mmichelle cmyThe best location you can find near the Basel train station. This hotel shares the same reception lobby as the Metropolitan Hotel, so you'd need to walk a long way from reception to the back of the kitchen to the lift that goes up to your room. The room is tiny with our two big luggages and we couldn't open them fully.
