The place was beyond my expectation. The hostel looks wonderful from inside with historical character. The rooms are perfectly well organized and neat. The washrooms are clean. The staff are friendly and always there to help you, the receptionist recommended nice places to visit in Basel. They also give me a bike for free to help exploring the city. Check in and out process went smoothly and professionally, you can even do it totally online. The breakfast also was fantastic. The location is a walk distance from the Dan bahnhof and you can easily pick up a tram to go to the old city center. I highly recommend this place to whoever wants to visit Basel.

We had a two day stay at this hotel on the way to Paris. This is a charming hotel with a historic facade but modern and renovated interior. We had the Queen room and whilst only 20 sq mtrs felt very spacious. Location is prefect for those with luggage and arriving by train as the station is across the road. We had a lovely view of the station and no noise could be heard with the windows closed. We often opened the windows to soak up the atmosphere of the trams and buskers and the hustle and bustle of the station. The old town is not far away and easily walkable but the hotel provides free public transport cards which makes it even easier to visit the city and surrounds. Some lovely old buildings and a marketplace to visit. We did not have breakfast at this hotel but there is a large supermarket next door where drinks, food, bakery items can be purchased. The bar/ restaurant downstairs has inside and outside seating with the outside area great for watching people and the station happenings. If we return this would be our hotel of choice. Switzerland is a very expensive country so expect to pay a lot more for drink and food than you do at home. A block away is Markthalle an upmarket food court with cuisines from all over the world. We ate here both nights as the food was so good.

Thanks to its central location, few min. away from the SBB train station, many attractions, St. Jakob Park and Messe Basel can be reached on foot or by public transport. Look forward to a great stay at a fantastic price.

I have stayed in many Ibis budget hotels and this was by far one of the best ones. The ladies at reception were extremely friendly and helpful and the gentleman who was in charge of breakfast provided first class service. All hotel staff spoke German, French and English and were very approachable. The room was nice and tidy. I was given a Basel card at the hotel, which allowed me to use public transport free of charge and provided access to various museums with half price entry. Although this hotel is a 15-minute walk from the train station Basel SBB, there are 2 trams that one can take from Basel SBB that lead to a tram stop, which is a 2-minute walk from the hotel. I had a great time here and can highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Basel. Thanks to the Ibis team for a great time there!

I was in August 2023 for a night with the family in this B&B. Let's come to Check In! I had to speak English at Check Inn! Why can't you speak German at the reception in Basel???? Well the room, we had the family room with a double bed and two single beds. The room was beautifully large and clean. Air conditioning is not running at all you can set what you want you not run. I'm pretty bad about you being deliberately placed from the hotel. What I've never seen in a hotel is the windows without touch!!! You can't open or close the windows! ? ! ? Now breakfast! What should I say it was overviewable and evil at the same time! I took me salami and S*****es and the witch was shaved right! Yes, we have breakfast, in fact, Salami and S******en served that I think has been unpleasant for days!

The truly lovely, friendly staff are the only positive I can take away from this hotel. We booked late so everything else in a reasonable price range was booked up. For the price we paid, it was quite disappointing. Gives off strong youth hostel vibes, rooms in serious need of an update. No air-con ( and it's currently 35°C) and room smelled weird and fusty. Worst of all was the noise. We had a ground floor room and the noise from reception as well as guests sitting out until the wee hours on the terrace area continues until well after midnight. Then guests started to leave (at top volume) at 4am again. There is no sound-proofing inside the room either, i.e. from the bathroom. There may as well be no door at all. We paid €11 each for breakfast. The selection was sp**** but edible. In summary, we would not return to the hotel unless nothing else was available. We value a decent night's sleep too much.

The room is small, the suitcase is a bit difficult to open, there is no kettle in the room, you need to go to the front desk to borrow it. It belongs to the domestic seven-day standard. The prices in Munich, Basel, and Berlin on my itinerary are about the same and the lowest grade. The dark carpet used in the room feels dirty. The service is not bad, and the sanitation is not bad. It is two stops away from Vitra where I need to go by tram No. 8

The building does not work unreservedly on the guest, but arrived at the right floor, this impression turns around 180 degrees. You are welcomed by a bright lobby with friendly staff. The surprise continues in the generous and top-modern rooms. The restaurant is also very recommended, although the choice might be greater.

Perfect stay for one night before departing from BSL airport. Had been on Viking River Cruise so left at 11am to tour the historic Basel, Switzerland. Arrived at hotel around 2:30pm. Had an excellent lunch at LaCave. All in french so they had to help us interpret. Had a huge room, coffee maker, TV, nice hot shower, books, robes & slippers available. Dinner at LaCave was excellent. Madelines at night time with tea in room all complimentary. Staff at desk very nice day, evening & night. Helped with shuttle to airport in very early monring. No breakfast at that hour. I would definitely stay again and recommend to all my traveling friends. Rate was good and included trip to airport.

I travel a lot and usually dont care about the exterior of the Hotels but the inside and staff is important. Worker at the desk was very polite and skilled when i checked in. When i entered the room... abt 300 Euro a night! To say its old to say nothing - like in the old good USSR times in Moscow, Sankt Petersburg, DDR side of Berlin! 40 years ago, what a nostalgic feeling, smell of old carpet, never cleaned AC. Had to open window to get fresh air insine. Paint art on the wall by Natalie Goller - Innenraum Rußland. Was für ein Zufall! For 300 Euro a night! First evening at the Restaurant i choose Wiener Schnitzel with salad and French fries 🍟. My first Wiener Schnitzel ever and never ever if this piece of smashed to 3 mm dry pork was the real Wiener Schnitzel then sorry... Only good thing was the salad. At the hotel restaurant For 300 Euro a night! Breakfast was outstanding, nothing special at the hotel restaurant For 300 Euro a night! Asked in the morning if they do laundry the answer was - no, but whae i asked again at the desk in an hotel for 300 Euro a night the lady called someone and repeated what he heard on the other side of the line - laundry is the responsibility of the guests. Means do your self At the hotel For 300 Euro a night! Finally me and the lady on the desk figured out that the hotel does outsource the laundry to a third party company. Duration - few days, At the hotel For 300 Euro a night! Complimentary water only upon arrival, At the hotel For 300 Euro a night! Kettle, tea in room? Deam on! At the hotel For 300 Euro a night! What doesn't kills us makes us laughing 😆 At the hotel For 300 Euro a night!

GGuest UserOur 3 day trip in Basel concludes on more positives than nagging issues. First the good part: Staff such as Steven, Catia and Michael are worth mentioning as they did their best to accommodate our requests. In general the front office staff seems rather well trained and courteous. Secondly the location of this hotel is ideal. With access to train, tram and bus stations within a couple 100 metres is very convenient. Sound isolation and sleep quality are pretty decent. Rooms are modern and seem to ve renovated recently. Ample parking available in the basement. The best part is the entrance of the hotel is within the private space and does not hinder public traffic. So parking the vehicle to offload the luggage is practical. I feel one of the best designs of this hotel is to be able to manoeuvre your car and allow guests to be able to safely disembark. Breakfast is decent and very clean setup. No signs of hygiene issues. And now to the few nagging issues: First the over engineering of elevators and their use can ve confusing at first. Staff should take time to read any messages and requests done through third party booking platforms. Although requests were addressed promptly but could have avoided delays. Room temperature settings difficult to comprehend for kelvins to Celsius conversions. Also the room was quite warm and slightly unpleasant in the evening. Breakfast should consider some infant friendly options too. Value for money - a miss for sure. Overall I would say it was quite a pleasant experience but the management needs to step up on making it a value proposition.

GGo27015047678We recently stayed at the GAIA hotel in Basel for two nights. The location across from the train station was very convenient. The hotel staff was super accommodating and helpful in answering our questions, even looking up the platform our train was leaving from and telling us how to find it. Our room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was included and the quality and variety was good. Would definitely stay there again.

GGuest UserWe stayed here for just one night as part of a group, but it would be my number one choice should I ever return to Basel. It is across the road from the main station, and the trams are also just across the road, if you wish to travel around the city (free using the hotel guest card). The room was comfortable, and quiet, even though it overlooked the main road. Breakfast! What to say? The most lovely array of so many different foods in a bright, clean dining area. There was a large selection of beautifully prepared fresh fruit, lots of different breads, and so many savouries -cheeses, cold meats, smoked salmon, avocado, eggs, as well as some hot food. One young waiter said it was his first day, but he was well trained and spoke excellent English. Thank you.

GGuest UserComfortable location - to the station 5 minutes by bus 30, walk often, stop in step. Near the chic gate of Spalentor, behind them almost begins shopping space and center. Before stopping 50 bus to the airport, take 5 minutes. The staff at the hotel is very welcome, on the receptacle spices, water, candy, cards, booklets, cards. Settled before the placed, late departure without extra payment to 12, then 50 Franco. Give a basel card: free transportation, including to the airport, and 50% discount on museums. There is also a code for hotel entrance after 22 (or 23, I will not remember anymore) when there is no one on the respiratory. Breakfast is excellent, cheeses of species 7, cut, vegetables, hot, juice, water, jams, fruit, can be ordered eggs, omlet, coffee, etc., on the 5th floor with beautiful views, small room. The room is cosy, slippers, closets, minibar, many different lusters and light bulbs. Quiet. Your cloud programs, ours is not. The blankets are excellent, the pillows are so for yourself. Overall: I recommend.

GGuest UserThis hotel is within walking distance from the SBB train station, staff at the hotel are very friendly and speak very good English. I was very grateful for the early check in without any quibble with the receptionist, and she explained how we can get around. Room was very comfortable and clean. Breakfast had a good choice of hot and cold foods, with variations every day. I would definitely stay here again. The only discomfort with our room was the temperature in our room was set to 19C, which was comfortable during the day, but was a bit too hot for the night for us, and we couldn’t lower the temperature down.

GGuest UserThe location is great, close to the Old Town and only minutes on foot from Barfuesserplatz. Parking at Steinen is also within relatively reasonable distance. The service was great and the staff very friendly. The rooms are modern, and what we especially appreciated were the separated shower and toilet, although we did miss additional opportunities to hang bath towels. Our room was to the front of the building and therefore somewhat noisy due to the proximity of the tram line, but I guess that's the caveat of such a central location. For breakfast there are two options: The full buffet breakfast at the Teufelhof across the street, or the coffee shop on the ground floor of the SET Hotel itself. We opted for the latter and loved their croissants. The corridors felt a bit bland, dark and ”hospital-like”, as my wife put it. A bit of colour would give it a somewhat friendlier touch. Other than that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and think it's an ideal place to stay for exploring the city.

JJB SimeonNovotel was a nice place to stay for our overnight in Basel. Easy check-in and check-out so we had no problems at reception. Our train left very early the next day so they kindly prepared our breakfast to take away which included 2 sandwiches and 2 bottles of water for each person. I can't say much about the facilities since we didn't get to explore but the hotel was a convenient location to get to Basel SBB. The reception staff also helped us book a taxi which we were thankful for as fewer trams went around the city so early in the morning. We were also given a Visitor Pass to travel around the city so the trams were free and we got a discount at the museum we went to. The only downside was there wasn't a convenience store nearby or maybe there was but we didn't get to see one immediately. Thanks, Novotel!

GGuest UserI booked a night in a single room with Lavabo - the price is currently at 95,- CHF + 4,- courtage. I am not in a hotel because I wanted to save money and Switzerland is much more expensive than Germany. Benefits of youth hostels: The booking includes a Basel card that allows you to use all the public service free of charge. Furthermore, you pay only 50% of the entry at museums etc. Another advantage: the location of the youth heritage very central, but still quiet (only with regard to the city event), in the old town very close to the Rhine. You can walk to the center. The neighborhood is idyllic. I had a room with windows on the opposite side of the Rhine, there cooled it in spite of a hot summer day in the night nicely from another advantage: breakfast is quite good, it is already ready from 6:00, and the coffee/cappucino from the machine is of high quality. However, one must pay for a cappucino outside the breakfast hours CHF 4.00. A room without shower/WC with Lavabo is easy because there are enough toilets and single showers available on the floor. And a good shower bathtub was to be borrowed for 3,- CHF. The staff of the youth hostels were very friendly. Most other guests do not, often my greeting was not answered on the hall. Now to the disadvantages that weigh more seriously for my needs than the benefits: first of all the relative brightness. Relatively because the construction substance appears normal in this respect, but the behaviour of other guests is ignorant. At the time of my stay, many families with small children were present, some of which let their children cry unremittingly (without pain or dispute) - the children cry partly for fun at crying, in the rooms, but also, Because it is so beautiful in the concrete halls, and well because the parents thought that all could be left in a youth hostel. I didn't say anything to these families because I know from experience that it doesn't bring anything and because I just stayed a night. But I have spoken to the staff, but nothing has been done (that is probably also useless for them). I myself visited Basel to look at a lot of art, and I am a guy who needs a guest room as a place of withdrawal even daily to get back. The impressions in this interesting city are overwhelming. This youth hostel is not suitable for this. I could only sleep with earstops, and that's only uncomfortable. Unfortunately, the room can only be obtained from 15:00 - I would have wished to be able to rest a little before and make me fresh after the long arrival of a hot day (but probably it would have been too loud to rest). In the room there are no hooks or similar to hang towels or clothes. Also in the toilets

GGuest UserReally great hostel for seeing the sights of Basel. Location was close to the Basel SBB train station and trams going into the main part of Basel. You can also easily walk. I stayed in an 8 bed female dorm, which had comfy beds. Each bed has it's own locker assigned with key provided by the hostel. There is a good kitchen with a fridge for guests to use, as well as table space to sit and eat. Showers are spacious and not on a timer. The Basel card they give you at check in is great for discounts on museum tickets and free public transport. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable and checking in was straightforward. I would recommend as a place to stay to explore beautiful Basel.

Out of 4rooms, all 3 rooms with issue like smelly room (like dead body inside the room), only one lightbulb is working, door knob got issue, stuffy room.. too many issue that we don’t know where shud we start to complaint. Old hotel and need a lot improvement. Check in staff is friendly. Breakfast consider average. No photo because nothing to shot out with.
