I just ended a month’s stay in Barranquilla as a Diamond member of the Hilton Hotel and IHG’s Diamond Elite. I’m utterly in awe of the service I received at Estelar Alto Prado Barranquilla. The attention to detail, and the care given to each guest makes them without a doubt number one in Barranquilla. A first rate service in everything, the administration, reception, the rooms, the pool, and the restaurant and the attention to detail as I Mentioned Before, makes them unique in Barranquilla. I want to offer my warm congratulations to Mr. Jorge Michaels the hotel manager for his excellent job and the reception manager Mr. Yheis for making me feel important and as if I were home.

Saturday September 16 - Receptionist was extremely rude questioning why I was in the country and my documentation. I asked about my reservation, my family member needed a place to stay for two nights. Since one of my initial reservations was two queen beds I asked if that was easier or just adding the room. My reservation was for 1 person, with a king sized bed. The receptionist said I had to pay in full at once for my 1 person, with a king sized bed room. Come to find she charged me an additional $500 from the original reservation. I was stuck paying for a double room for 8 nights at $500 more than any reservation I already had. When I questioned the cost, that they had already charged to my accounts, I was told I needed to contact the third party company I had booked through or could leave but there are no refunds. Last year when I visited this hotel we were treated with kindness and respect, which is why I chose to return. This time I was treated like a criminal. Once to our room, there was a lizard in the room!!! Running around!!! Extremely frustrated and scared, I returned to the reception to share my findings for them to roll their eyes and change my room. They said lizards are native to the land and very common. At dinner - The waiter dropped waters on my aunt, then forgot my other aunts meal, then the manager came to argue about tips because my mom wanted to confirm the tip went to our waiter after over hearing the manager shout at the employee. The manager said he gets his cuts and the tips are distributed through the entire staff whether she likes it or not. Friday September 22 - During my breakfast I was not acknowledged by any employees. As I almost finished my meal..There were cockroaches crawling around the tables .. At the end of the night, as I arrived to the hotel room, I asked for toiletries as the given quantities are minimal and so with this heat I find myself showering at least twice/day - Then the attendant asked why I was using so many toiletries. September 22 - I sent 3 clothing items to the laundry - My bodysuit (blouse) was ruined. It was returned with yellow bleach stains all over the straps. This is absolutely the worst experience I’ve ever experienced at any hotel in my entire life.

The hotel is older. The shower room in the picture room is open, and the absence of a door causes too much moisture. The whole room was sprinted with moist odor, which was unpleasant in the long run. Do not really look at the so-called Ctrip, booking star standards. Many of the five-star hotels are pits! !! !! !! The rating is also pit! !! !! When choosing a hotel, you still have to choose a relatively new one, as well as a big brand hotel chain, at least not worse. The hotel barranqilla plaza next door is even worse, not even a few dozen yuan hotel. Booking is actually rated five stars, rated 8.4-9.1! !! !! Super invincible pit! !! Because it is not convenient to travel with products on a business trip, I stayed at the barranqilla plaza for one night and moved to this hotel next door. It is a little better but really not so good! !! Worst experience on a business trip. Please choose a new hotel, new! !!

This was a large group that was planned for more than a year. We had over 45 people planning to stay in the hotel along with a planned party that was up on the 13th floor for 45 people and was an absolute nightmare! Management was quick to take my $$ for the food and set up of of the party. They were SO understaffed and ill prepared it very soon turned into a complete nightmare and disappointment. With more than 45 people at the party music was great and one bartender the staff had no idea, nor did they have the ability to correct it. I had more than three of my friends trying to at least pay their tab, but their equipment was not sufficient to take payment. It also took hours for that to be corrected, but I also went down to talk to Management and i found two 20 year-old girls were explaining to me that they were running the hotel yet they were on the phone trying to find somebody to help them and no ability to correct the situation. was extremely disappointed to find a hotel that was Supposedly of great caliber destroyed and ruined my wife’s 60th birthday along with her family that were born and raised here in Barranquilla. I later found many of the people at the party had the informed me that the bar tender upstairs ran out of alcohol, and was not only shorting drinks, but not putting any alcohol in a lot of them. we later confirm that as we found 1/3 of the party was downstairs in the front bar drinking as nobody had any alcohol and their drinks upstairs. needless to say, I’m extremely disappointed as we own property here in this city, and to bring 45 friends from the states to enjoy the culture atmosphere and ambience. It’s just disgusting to have such an incredible night ruined my managements, inability to prepare and service the party that we paid. I would strongly recommend not to ever come here with a party of any caliber or service that is needed as they were not capable to even correct the problem that’s what really ******. please note this is not what I do. I am just so disappointed as we love this city and it’s a shame to bring so many friends to a place where we were spending good money for them to enjoy just to be kicked in the face by two young girls that had no ability to cure or solve the problem. there are many other fine hotels in this city. If you’re gonna spend any fair amount of money, I would please shop around as I would not come to the Crowne Plaza ever.

By far the worst Marriott property I have ever stayed at. Front desk staff provide false statements and find ways to take advantage of those not from Colombia. To boot, the staff take your credit card number and share it out via unencrypted email.
