Find the Cheap Barranquilla Hotels

By far the worst Marriott property I have ever stayed at. Front desk staff provide false statements and find ways to take advantage of those not from Colombia. To boot, the staff take your credit card number and share it out via unencrypted email.

A very basic hotel but with friendly staff and in a very lively area. The staff were very helpful but the hotel itself has seen far better days. The rooms were clean and functional apart from the bathroom where there was no hot water and no shower head and just a single flow of water in the shower Breakfast was also very limited and if you want to actually get some sleep bring ear plugs as the hotel is on top of a few loud bars If you want a cheap place to stay this is fine but this would be a one or 2 star hotel in Europe at its best

The credit card was stolen the second time after check-in. I was told that I bought the ticket online. It was probably taken by the front desk when I checked in. Keep your eyes on the credit card when you check in!

To all whom would like to experience the city life, this is the one of the spots to stay. It is in the center of absolutely everything in Barranquilla; restaurants, malls, supermarkets, night clubs, medical facilities, approx 20min from the Malecon, beaches, universities, all is at close proximity (via car). The location is just perfect. The stay at the hotel was considerably OKAY, was there for a little over three weeks. Very friendly staff members; managers, receptionist and waitstaff. Overall food was decent - breakfast was a mix of Colombian and continental breakfast and the Lunch/Dinner menu was varied (a bit pricey for the quality). I was a bit disappointed at their housekeepers, the room was not properly maintained( swept & mopped) and amenities were hardly ever refilled. I also found a few roaches in the bathroom; I called the front desk to complain and the following day the housekeeper arrived with a Raid can to spray the area. In overall the experience wasn’t too bad.

Saturday September 16 - Receptionist was extremely rude questioning why I was in the country and my documentation. I asked about my reservation, my family member needed a place to stay for two nights. Since one of my initial reservations was two queen beds I asked if that was easier or just adding the room. My reservation was for 1 person, with a king sized bed. The receptionist said I had to pay in full at once for my 1 person, with a king sized bed room. Come to find she charged me an additional $500 from the original reservation. I was stuck paying for a double room for 8 nights at $500 more than any reservation I already had. When I questioned the cost, that they had already charged to my accounts, I was told I needed to contact the third party company I had booked through or could leave but there are no refunds. Last year when I visited this hotel we were treated with kindness and respect, which is why I chose to return. This time I was treated like a criminal. Once to our room, there was a lizard in the room!!! Running around!!! Extremely frustrated and scared, I returned to the reception to share my findings for them to roll their eyes and change my room. They said lizards are native to the land and very common. At dinner - The waiter dropped waters on my aunt, then forgot my other aunts meal, then the manager came to argue about tips because my mom wanted to confirm the tip went to our waiter after over hearing the manager shout at the employee. The manager said he gets his cuts and the tips are distributed through the entire staff whether she likes it or not. Friday September 22 - During my breakfast I was not acknowledged by any employees. As I almost finished my meal..There were cockroaches crawling around the tables .. At the end of the night, as I arrived to the hotel room, I asked for toiletries as the given quantities are minimal and so with this heat I find myself showering at least twice/day - Then the attendant asked why I was using so many toiletries. September 22 - I sent 3 clothing items to the laundry - My bodysuit (blouse) was ruined. It was returned with yellow bleach stains all over the straps. This is absolutely the worst experience I’ve ever experienced at any hotel in my entire life.

Faranada colletion Barranquilla definitivamente superó mis expectativas, el hotel es muy hermoso, sus camas extremadamente comodas, la calides y amabilidad del equipo se sintieron desde el check in hasta el check out, siempre dispuestos a servir y hacer sentir al huésped especial, shirly, zamir, Nayla y Alexandra fueron super atentos y sonrientes en todo momento, espero regresar pronto y volver a disfrutar de este magnífico hotel.

Customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Hotel chain states that customer service is the most important thing—it is not. This lack of service was made evident at the start with Sergio at the front desk, who was not only sassy, but absolutely useless from a customer service standpoint. When plans changed and we needed to check out earlier, he proceeded to be unhelpful and tell me he could only honor the reservation for its entire duration. After discussing how often I had stayed at the GHL branded hotels and how modifying the reservation had never been an issue in the past, he went behind a closed door and came back offering a “great” solution: modifying my reservation to cut it from 9 days to 3 days for a higher price (and had modified it already without discussing any pricing with me. I kid you not when I say I spent 1 hour checking in trying to find a solution for both parties. Ultimately, Sergio told me the price wasn’t going to change and I would have to take it or leave it. The bed was incredibly springy and hard. Not comfortable. Room was standard. Not luxurious as website makes it out to be. One day for breakfast, I checked on their app which stated that breakfast ended at 10:30 am, and confirmed with an employee in the hallway at 10:05 am that breakfast went until 10:30 am, and then the lady at the breakfast location gave me a sassy attitude telling me that breakfast was over at 10 am and I could grab from what was left, but for my information it was over at 10 am. I tried to call the front desk using the phone in room to no avail over 5 times. When checking out, I called using the phone to have a bellboy come help with the bags, and no answer. I went to find help from the cleaning staff, who stated they had called down for me. No one came. I ended up going downstairs and asking Rafael at the front desk, who stated he would send someone immediately, but did not. I had to ask again five minutes after talking with him about my issues and he finally sent someone. During check out, I expressed the lack of service and the horrible experience to Rafael, who stated he recognized me from previous stays at the other hotel around the corner, GHL Collection. He stated he would try to help, went behind closed door and “spoke to someone” who told him that since Sergio and I had come to an agreement, there was nothing that could be done. When I asked to speak to the manager, he stated he would call him over and I waited over 15-20 minutes to no avail (when he was around the corner at the other hotel, literally across the street). When I asked for the general manager’s name, Rafael would not give it to me, stating he could not make that information public. As if it wasn’t the general manager’s job to address issues? He would only offer me the reservations manager’s name. I cannot express enough my disgust at the lack of service and care from these team members and their inability to help in any way. Average price, good environment

This hotel is really good, the location is OK, the service is good, the hotel rooms are large and spacious, very clean, and the price is very affordable, it is highly recommended.

I just ended a month’s stay in Barranquilla as a Diamond member of the Hilton Hotel and IHG’s Diamond Elite. I’m utterly in awe of the service I received at Estelar Alto Prado Barranquilla. The attention to detail, and the care given to each guest makes them without a doubt number one in Barranquilla. A first rate service in everything, the administration, reception, the rooms, the pool, and the restaurant and the attention to detail as I Mentioned Before, makes them unique in Barranquilla. I want to offer my warm congratulations to Mr. Jorge Michaels the hotel manager for his excellent job and the reception manager Mr. Yheis for making me feel important and as if I were home.
