Travelodge Barnsley
4.2/541 Reviews
I am not one to write reviews, but my experience compelled me to. I had no plans of even passing the night at Barnsley Travelodge but I did and I truly enjoyed it. My room was thoroughly cleaned and just simply stunning. The environment was really conducive and the staff were so helpful and friendly. It actually seemed like they enjoyed aiding their lodgers and that made me really happy. I was supposed to just spend a night, but I extended my stay and I have no regrets. Be it business or leisure, I would definitely come back to this travelodge centre. So, big ups to the amazing staff and the company.

Ibis Styles Barnsley

The Ibis styles is a quirky funky hotel situated around 2 miles from the centre of Barnsley, this is about £4-£6 in a ride share or taxi service. Upon arriving I was met by some super friendly reception staff who quickly checked me in, even managed to get me in an accessible room having noticed I was on a mobility scooter, much appreciated for the shower in the morning. On top of this they advised on local food delivery options and allowed me to eat it in the bar area! Such a kind and accommodating gesture as it was 11pm by this point. The Rooms are spotlessly clean as pictured, spacious with big windows, all the usual in room stuff you would expect and a nice sized tv too. The beds themselves the “sweetbedz” super comfortable overall, a bit firm for my personal preference but much better than most hotels around the ibis average price. Can’t wait for the opportunity to stay again soon. The breakfast I believe was the express option, the staff where great and assisted me, one plate i found to be plenty and was a tasty way to start the day.

We went for an afternoon tea, the building and setting looked nice. The reception wait was a little long, but not too bad, but for an afternoon tea you don't want to queue along with hotel guests. The room we were taken too was old and nice, but there was no background music. This meant we could only hear the conversation from other tables, and with mild mesophonia, the sound of someone eating and talking is off putting. We were placed in theiddle, surrounded by people in other tables, which I prefer not to do. I'm only just coping at this point. Service was slow! Asked if we wanted our prosecco before or with the sandwiches, we asked for before. It came late. The sandwiches were ok but uninspiring, with my partner not eating meat I also missed out on the ham sandwich, that was poor. The cakes were nice enough. But after my second bite in the sandwich I found a large hair, not ours. I mentioned this to the waitress who apologised and offered me a fresh sandwich. At this point I was so put off I eat nothing else. I left the prosecco untouched. I went for a walk, leaving my partner to eat alone. Staff were conspicuously absent. We found a box and put in the cakes so I could have something later. On the whole this was a really spoilt day. Table placing, no background music and a hair in the food. A wasted gift. So sad.
