The initial look as we arrived in our room should have been a clue - rips and tears in the curtains, grout missing in the tiny bathroom and just plain dirty. Only stayed due to emergency mechanical breakdown - never again - I'll sleep in the car !! Absolutely appalling !!! Stayed in 6 motels in the 2 weeks of my trip and this motel clearly deserves the title of worst motel I've ever stayed in !!

My husband and I stayed at the Ironbark Inn on the outward journey of our trip in May. Our room was clean and well serviced, and we had a lovely meal in the restaurant. The manager Steve and his staff were so nice that we looked forward to seeing them again on our way home. Sadly, a change of management had occurred by the time we came back through and our stay the second time around wasn't the same. Our room hadn't been cleaned properly, the restaurant was no longer open, and the new manager was rude. We won't be staying at this motel again.

Arrived to find bird through the entrance to our room, mould through the freezer, cockroach’s in the sink and the toilet smelled of urine. When advised the manager blamed the backpackers they have doing the cleaning. She sent someone over with a bottle of spray and wipe and some paper towel to fix the issues ‍♂️. If you value your health I would not stay or eat at this restaurant - Obviously the health inspector has not been for some time.

Ironbark Inn I suspect is still getting bookings only because of past reputation and the good service of its current manager Steve. The rooms range from clean & basic with updated bathrooms to shabby rooms with stained carpets, broken blinds and bathrooms that the staff do their best to clean but…you can only do so much. The whole place has great facilities but is badly in need of money being spent on it. Recommend but it’s hit & miss!

Great food in nice location. This steakhouse menu had options for all including fish and chicken. The steak was beautifully cooked as requested and tasty. Generous country sized portions means no one goes hungry. Chips were good which is my gauge. Bangers and mash were great.

I didn't stay here as I live in town, have been in a few times over the last few months for dinner and it's always been bvelow average . Every time they have run out of something, menu on the website and FB is different to what they have , battered fish was terrible , the batter was hard like cardboard, also had a well done steak which was cook medium, lots of blood . Never have any drinks in the fridge , poorly managed . Food 3/10 . Won't eat here again , they can target the tourists who are gone the next day .

The room I was allocated when I arrived at the Ironbark Inn had such an overpowering smell of sewage that neither of my friends would enter the room. My friend who had the room next door needed to put a mat over her bathroom drain to stop the smell coming into her room. After suggesting to management that it might not be an appropriate room to put someone in for the night, I was given another room (but no apology). The photos for the new room I was given are attached. There was 1. Insect or gecko droppings on the bathroom basin 2. Half finished repairs in the bathroom 3. A missing toilet button and the top of the toilet was covered in insect droppings 4. There were tea bags but no milk in the fridge 5. There were containers for shampoo, conditioner and soap for the shower but they were all empty. 6. The carpet and sofa had multiple stains that had not been cleaned. The pool was surrounded by knee high grass that was not mown. The photographs on the site appear to be from the previous management and are not reflective of the current condition of the accommodation. It is overpriced for what you get and I would not recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in Barcaldine.

We have stayed here on a number of occasions but on our recent stay was the first since new management took over. Terribly disappointing. New management was rude, actually burping in my face after swigging a coca-cola. Food was terrible. Beer was flat. AC didn’t work in room. Hot water temp is now turned down so low you can barely get warm in the shower. Rooms are filthy. After to speaking to a number of locals, the poor reviews are widespread. I never write reviews so after much deliberation since my trip here it is. Bottom line - Won’t be back.

The Barcaldine Ironbark Inn is the place to stop for a meal at their Restaurant. We ordered pork chops and mash and peas and the pork melted in it our mouths . The staff were lovely and the prices were good . Well worth a stop . It’s nice to have a good meal in the outback
