Firstly, we understand Covid-19 has smashed a lot of small businesses including cafes, restaurants and motels. But, the only reason why we stayed here was to eat at the restaurant - apparently has very good food including great steaks. We booked a table and confirmed it with reception when we checked in, they said no worries and turn up after 6.15 pm. We arrived at around 6.30 pm - inside was chaos - one poor young guy who was all at sea, stressed out and trying to serve around 10 people at the bar as well as take food orders etc. We waited around 15 minutes before he served us - he said that there was no booking for our room, he went out the back a few times and then suggested we take someone else's booked table (and he would deal with it later) - I declined this offer and said that there was no way I was taking someone else's table and stuffing up their night. He apologised and we left and ate at a pub down the road. I spoke with a very young female staff member at reception - she said flat out the restaurant was fully booked and we wouldn't have been able to book! Next day when checking out the lady that took the booking said she had no idea what happened. Anyway as they say in the classics a ”s..t show”. By the way, the other pub graciously welcomed us, made up a table and we enjoyed the meal.
