Samala Hotel Bangkok

Sukhumvit Bangkok|0.22km from The Beef Cafe
This hotel is brand-new, and has immense potential. It's a shame that I have to write this negative review, but I'm hoping it can spur the hotel to do much better in several areas. We discovered this newly built hotel from a local friend and decided to book four nights during the festive season. Upon arrival, the check-in process took much longer than expected. This was in-part due to the poor command of English by most of the staff. We were assigned a room in Tower A and Tower B. Tower A rooms are much more convenient as the pool and gym are located on the same tower. The rooms itself were great, but there were many small issues which hampered the experience during our stay. For example, the shower drain drains water very slowly, resulting in an overflow everytime you take a shower. The water pressure itself was decent but they need to solve the drainage issues, because we had several different rooms during our stay and every room had the same problem. Other than that, the rooms were great. The power points have USB-A and USB-C inlets, so you don't need an adapter when staying at this hotel, a very thoughtful point. Next, the breakfast buffet was decent. Bangkok hotels are famous for their excellent breakfast buffets. I have stayed in countless hotels in Bangkok, and the benchmark continues to be Centara Grand at CentralWorld for breakfast. Samala's breakfast buffet had a variety of options. The great thing is that the dishes are different every day, so you'll never have a boring breakfast. The bad news is that in terms of taste, its not consistent. For example, there was one morning which had Hainanese Chicken Rice served, and I nearly vomited after tasting it. On another day, there was Green Curry Chicken served, and it was amazing. Speaking of breakfast, I want to highlight the excellent service by Mr. Tong, which I believe is the manager of the breakfast service. Mr. Tong was very attentive and checked-in on us to make sure everything was fine. Interestingly, he spoke much better English than half the front desk staff so perhaps he should be there instead! Last but not least, I want to provide some inputs about the service. It was very inconsistent. Most of the staff at the hotel were very friendly, particularly the concierge, which was amazing at making dining reservations and providing recommendations for lunch/dinner. The front desk staff were also very friendly, and I managed to have a good chat with the front desk manager on several occasions. She had a good command of English, together with a woman who appeared fierce but was very friendly, but the same can't be said for the rest of the staff. They had some of the worse English I have ever seen in any hotel. Bangkok is an international tourist destination, and if the front desk can't get English right, it's better they are moved to other parts of the hotel. Also, some of the staff are extremely stingy when it comes to bathroom amenities. We requested extra Body Wash on several occ

I'm very saddened to say this once great hotel is declining very fast. This was my top choice prior to Covid and I always stayed in a club millesime room. But I'm giving up after this stay, After 1 night into a 3 night stay with 3 club millesime rooms, I made up my mind You should get what you pay for but here you do not any more and I'm saddened about it. In no particular order: 1) Lounge service has declined massively. Took 10 minutes for someone to come to get my drinks order for afternoon tea. 2) Cocktail selection is now limited to 5 or 6 cocktails when previously they would make any cocktail you wished from the bar on the floor. All I like is a Bloody Mary, and it's almost impossible to get one here now. Food selection is poor in the lounge too. Jam Sandwiches? Come on! 3) Previously the pool had a bar by the entrance with water and snacks. Now it's gone! It was there 2 years ago. The empty bar serves as a reminder of what was there. A pool attendant did give ice cold water to guests by the pool but for some reason did not offer to me. When I saw him ignore me for the third time, he was very apolgetic and immediately gave me an iced water and then and Orange Juice, at no charge. They should promote hm to become the hotel manager! 4) Went out all day, back at 4 pm - room not cleaned, and NO, do not disturb was not switched on. The other.2 rooms in our booking were all cleaned during breakfast time. How could they miss out my room? 5) The rooms have iPad control now. You can't do anything without it. I was shown how to use it but my guests in the other two rooms were not. No-one escorted them to their rooms either which I never saw here before. 6) When I did order drink in the lounge, it took 30 minutes to arrive. And that's if you are lucky enough to be asked, This is a quick list of shortcomings during the first 24 hour of this stay In all my years of traveling the Globe (I am also in the travel business) I have never seen a great hotel decline as fast as this one. Do yourself a favour. There are much better choices for your money in Bangkok. My recommendation is to stay at the Conrad, that has a great lounge and attentive staff and also a very well equipped Gym. Accor should fire the manager of the Sofitel Bangkok. He’s doing such a bad job and is ruining a great hotel. He asked to have a chat with me, 20 minutes before I checked out. I consider that to be so spineless. I raised my sadness about the hotel within 4-5 hours of arriving - Hh had 3 days to talk to me and try to turn an unhappy customer into a happy one. Seriously if he worked in my company he would no longer be employed. You have one chance to make a good impression and to try to turn around a negative experience into a good one, just before we were leaving makes no sense. Forget Accor, I'll be switching. to IHG as my favoured brand alongside Marriott. It give me no happiness to write this review because I did LOVE that hotel.

The room was really clean and bright. The bed is really big enough for two people.I really liked the swimming pool and the view was really incredible at night since the hotel is around the city centre. The staffs are really helpful and friendly.I definitely enjoyed my stay at there and I would stay there when I come to visit Bangkok again. It’s a great place to stay for real if you like to enjoy nightlife of Bangkok since it’s near to most of the attractions.

I stayed alone and in conclusion, I was very satisfied. It seemed like it had been recently remodeled when I stayed there. The sign saying Sam's lodge hasn't been taken down yet. Good location for the price, quiet, and very clean. I was satisfied with everything except that there was no window and the toilet water pressure was weak. It felt like a clean Korean motel. It was nice to have a hair dryer as well. The air conditioner is cool and there is also a hair dryer. The towels were clean too. The floor was laid on a floor similar to that used in Korean apartments, and it was so clean that you would feel a little embarrassed if you went in with your shoes on. If I come back, I think I will stay again haha.

Selected this hotel based on Trip Adviser reviews and I wasn’t disappointed. Super handy location for Asolk station Skytrain and MRT and all attractions of Sukamvit this place is a gem. Super friendly and helpful staff - I arrived early morning fresh of overnight flight and they not only rushed to get a room ready but then whatsapped me when it was ready. Late checkout - no probl! Excellent breakfast - plenty of it and served with a smile. Room was quiet and had everything that I needed without being over the top . I’ll definitely stay here next time I am in BKK.

My family and I stayed here for 3 days and this hotel was a bit dated, but the security and front desk staff were friendly. The concierge Mr Nuh helped us a lot. The rooms here are not bad, a bit dated, but no big problem. The toilet is also very clean, there is no free wifi here, and the charging signal is not very good. Our breakfast encountered some problems; the dishes here are not very rich, and the waiter can't understand English! There is no halal option here, but the fruit is still delicious. The breakfast area here shouldn't be so complicated! In addition, this area is very suitable for home travel as there are many residences nearby and close to the road. Robinson and Terminal 5 are nearby. We didn't try the pool, but it was not bad.

In the past, I have stayed in the main building which have wonderful rooms and a delightfully refreshing and expansive bathroom. This time, I was on a budget and stayed in Building 2 and the room and bathroom were just perfect and awesome value that cannot be beat in Sukhumvit. You are next to the great Terminal 21 Mall with a magnificent food court and shopping experience, right next to the BTS station Asok which is 1 hour from the airports, LOTS of restaurants and foot massage places on Soi 19 and just a short walk to activities on Nana Plaza. Most of all, Nanny and Golf and other folks at the front desk and the bar and the restaurant are as welcoming and warm as possible. This was my 3rd stay there :)

Pros: Very near Asok BTS / Terminal 21. 7/11 just opposite. Water pressure (handheld shower) is good. Shampoo / Body wash is provided in large bottles unlike last time. Stretch of (clean) massage parlors leading to the hotel but best to book a slot few hrs prior if you are going on weekday late night / weekend. Everything you need is within reach. Cons: Lack of charging ports near the bed. There is one but your cable must be at least 2m long for you to use while lying. The slippers provided is very worn, best to bring your own disposable pair or just buy 1 from Miniso at T21. If you wish to deposit your luggage after you check out, the luggages are stored near the back door. There's a CCTV but otherwise, it's left unattended. If you are coming in from DMK airport, the highway toll will be 80 + 50 Baht. The address is Sacha's Hotel Uno.
