May at the front desk was an excellent representation of the company and gently coaxed me to register for the ASR membership in order to grant me a late check-out by 90 minutes which was duly honoured.
It was a slight disappointment however that the hotel looked better on the outside than on the inside. The beds were quite hard, though not the worst I’ve had, and the water pressure in the showers were average but acceptable. Other than that, the rooms were big and spacious, serviced apartment style with a full-sized refrigerator, sofa, washing machine and microwave, with an excellent view of the bustling neighbourhood.
Location can be said to be subjective, it’s a bit of a walk from the subway station (~12 min) as compared to Hotels Nikko & JAL City which are considerably nearer. That said, Somerset is closer to the hip and buzzing areas of the Thonglor district, which house numerous bars, restaurants, entertainment and nightlife establishments. Having put up at Somerset Ekkamai earlier this year, one thing is for certain - Somerset Thonglor is definitely a cut above it’s sister hotel in Ekkamai.
Excellent
