Hotels near Surakhani Ship Museum in Baku

When I checked in I was told the door is broken so I could not open it with the electronic key and they'll open it, but it's gonna be fixed the next day. Of course it was never fixed and I had to ask the staff to open it for me every time. Felt REALLY awkward. Then some day some random woman (she was working here I believe) just opened my door and walked in while I was in my room at midnight, saw me, said sorry and run away. What was that I have no idea, but it kinda gives you an idea about their take on privacy. The TV was not working, because the cable was literally torn apart, the WiFi broke down several times and one time it was more than 24 hours. The showerhead was broken, the water from the shower never went the way it supposed to, but straight to the floor, the toilet was not really attached to the floor (thankfully it was attached to communications). With that being said, I still think the hotel is okay for the price, the room was nice, big and clean and had a personal balcony and the staff were really friendly.

My husband and I stayed 6 nights at the Sheraton Baku in Oct 2023. We were happy with the location, near the water and close to the old city. The room was average size, the bed and pillows were comfy, the bathroom had a large shower with rain and hand held shower nozzles, the tv had several international channels in English and other languages. The room faced the waterfront and had a large balcony with table and 2 chairs. All along the waterfront is a promenade and parkland for people to bike, walk, play. This public area extends the length of the downtown area. We had trouble with the A/C in our room, but after attempts over 2 days to fix it, reception moved us to another room. There is a wonderful restaurant where we had dinner a few nights. We tried pizza, soup, spaghetti bolognese and several salads and were very pleased. The staff were attentive. The restaurant has a nice ambience with an outdoor patio. The lounge area has so many fantastic coffee table books. Huge books that weigh a ton on art, culture, history, architecture, etc. The breakfast buffet was outstanding with many delicious dishes: fresh fruits and veggies, breads, cheeses, hot items, and eggs to order. Breakfast staff were attentive and eager to please. Elbaciz the F&B supervisor was always on top of things, making sure we were happy with the food and arranging to get us some coffee or whatever else we needed. The chef Mazahir always made us the perfect soft boiled eggs. The whole breakfast team were great. I would recommend this hotel for comfort and close to the old city.

Good day to everyone!😀 We are the first time in Azerbaijan and we made the right choice of hotel👍! The rooms are large and clean. Here there is a pool of saunas a few that's free. The kitchen is also delicious cooked. The staff is polite. By the way, there is a restaurant and a separate jazz club. I liked the restaurant delicious cooking😃 Thanks!

The service was not the best when we arrived. The receptionists took their time to assist us and when we finally were given keys, they just pointed to the lift and left us. The hotel room was quite outdated with a broken leaky fridge and a bulky TV. However, the balcony was quite nice and the view was amazing. The food was really good and it was plentiful.

I don’t normally take the time to review places but considering that they market themselves as a 5 star hotel I want to make sure other people considering this hotel know what to expect at least. For context We stayed in this hotel for a week as a family (2 kids) in a connecting family room. First off when we arrived and checked in, the guy at reception said they would check our documents and to please wait in their restaurant. We ordered some drinks and waited. Meanwhile suddenly they start blasting Indian music so loud in the restaurant (it was only us and another family there) that we had to go ask them if they could please turn it back down again. I don’t know for who or why they put the music on so loud. This also happened when we ate breakfast one morning. After maybe 20 minutes we went to ask reception how check in was going and were only told that “they were checking”. We decided to go and get some late lunch since we didn’t know how long we needed to wait for them to “check” whatever they were checking. If the room wasn’t ready, it wouldn’t have been a problem if they simply said so and gave us a time frame for when it would be ready. But this was a taste of the service to come unfortunately. We had a connecting family room that had one bathroom to share. The master bedroom had only a window which was a small and by the ceiling facing out into the hallway (so no external window) which meant it was like sleeping with lights on all night as the hallway light were always on. In this case perhaps a curtain for that window would be good or installing sensor lights in the hallway so the light isn’t on unless someone is there. The rooms were SO warm and when we went to check about the air conditioning they told us it wasn’t working or they didn’t have it. (Not sure which was the correct answer) They couldn’t give us a straight answer. They told us the heating had been on the night before but that they had now switched it off and allowed for “air” instead. So whatever control you have in your room is basically useless. When we asked if they could allow for the air conditioning to be turned on they just told us they would sort it out but nothing got done. We had to sleep with the only external window open during the night so at least our kids could be more comfortable. Other important things to note - we got 2 towels for 4 people. We asked them to bring 2 more which wasn’t done. Only when we saw a cleaner outside in the hallway one evening (3 nights into our stay) did we get 2 more. - there was no cleaning the whole week. We asked for more water, asked if someone would come to at least remove the garbage and they told us they would send someone but never did. - as shown in the photos, one of the single beds was broken underneath. - several sheets/duvet covers were broken, one example shown in the photos. - there was cigarette burns on the double bed headboard despite it being a non-smoking room. I opted for this Hotel for it's 24h reception service. So a late Check-In is possible. The Check-In went smooth and my room was almost clean (a few spots on the towels). The bath room was sometimes a bit smelly, this might be die to drainage problems. The Wifi was almost stable, keep it mind, tue QR Codes are sticked in the floor walls. The breakfast (3 sorts of curd, yogurt, sausage, Egg variants, jam, omelettes, spinach gözleme, salad, tea, coffee) is Basic, but sufficient to have a neatish meal. The staff was attentive and they tried the best for a comfortable stay. All in all you should keep in mind that this is a cheap priced Hotel, but the price-performance-ratio is amazing and it is in walking distance to the city center (or just take the bus 125, 6, 88 or 5).

At that time, the road was being built, the hotel and Ctrip did not inform in advance, it was very inconvenient to arrive at the hotel. The noise downstairs is also very loud. But the hotel's bed and pillows are very comfortable and the service is good. The restaurant in the hotel is also very good.

Overall good, best location. The scenery on the waterfront road is good, the car is preparing for the car at the door, and the traffic is somewhat affected. The only problem with the front desk is that there is no conversion plug to borrow.
