Casa Bel Inn

Baguio|1.54km from Ifugao Woodcarvers' Village
Very good room with convenient location along Marcos Highway, where it's easy to catch jeepney or taxi to get downtown or wherever you want to go .... but try to avoid busy rush hour times when taxis/jeepneys are mostly full and many roads are congested. Fares to downtown Baguio are usually P10 for jeepney and P 150 +/- for taxi (all of our Baguio taxis used meter without question). About 10-15 minute taxi ride during normal traffic; one day we walked to downtown and it took a little less than an hour. Baguio seems to be a hub/spoke city, as we had to go to or close to downtown before going to other tourist destinations. The Hotel is unusual as the check-in office is on first underground parking deck for the building (no real lobby, just a small seating area in office with a TV and hot/cold water dispenser). All rooms are in the next three lower levels connected by elevator; we could not hear Marcos Highway traffic unless we opened our windows, and we had a corner room. Staff allowed us to keep our bags there during our last day before our overnight bus trip back to Manila. Staff was very friendly and accommodating; when our TV cable box malfunctioned they replaced it within 15 minutes. Room was very clean and quite large for the budget price. Bathroom and shower area were also clean and large, with shower curtain and hot water. Towels and soap were provided. All of the ”underground” hotel rooms had good view of valley below, as hotel is along downhill side of Marcos Highway. Rooms face SE, so room was bright every sunny morning. There is 7-11 store on main level just about 1 minute from the elevator, for convenient place to purchase items. Baguio Craft Brewery is maybe 5 minutes walk down the road. There is a good restaurant (breakfast buffet incl coffee & juice for P199) about 3 minutes walk up Marcos Highway at the Podium Botique Hotel. We did not eat breakfast at the restaurant on 2nd floor of our building as they only had 2 of their menu items available (plus no one else was there !). We heard that the Casa Bel Inn used to offer free breakfast at this 2nd floor restaurant, but that is no longer available. We will definitely stay here again, as it was a great value, very clean, friendly staff, and at a good location to catch rides to all destinations.

Quite disorganized. Triage slip - this is an important piece of paper that a traveller should always bring especially when going to Camp John Hay area. I was asked by the receptionist to hand her the triage slip when we were checking in. I thought it must be submitted to them that’s why it wasn’t returned to me. When we travelled to John Hay, we were blocked at the gate because we didn’t have it. We went back to the hotel and asked about it. The receptionist struggled to find it but eventually found it. Hotel luggage cart - we were about to go to our room and asked for assistance since we have a lot of bags/luggages with us. We waited for so long because they seemed struggling to find the cart, so we decided to go without it. Housekeeping request - on our third day, we called at the lobby to schedule cleaning and replacing everything that needs to be replaced. We were out the entire day and hoping the room is clean when we return, but to our surprise, nothing happened. A staff forcibly opening the door - early in the morning when we were still sleeping (and haven’t had enough sleep), someone was trying to open the door, and since it’s taking a while, I decided to rise up, went to the door and opened it. The staff apologized and said it was a mistake. I never got back to sleep and was not feeling well the entire day. Breakfast - I don’t know if it’s normal but I find it such a hassle to always get a coupon from the lobby daily, and present it to the cafe every morning. The time we plan to take breakfast everyday is also being asked. I know this is to manage/forecast the flow of requests, but one day when we weren’t able to show up on time, someone from the cafe called us to know what time we will eat. I appreciate the concern, but it was just about 8:30am, and what if we were still sleeping? We felt pressured to go down and eat, and that’s what we did. Friendliness - not all, but most of the staff are not used to greeting people. Other than these, there are still good things about this place, such as the location. It’s within the city center, so it’s easy to go around. The area feels safe as well.

This hotel went over and beyond my expectations. The facade is very elegant, furnitures at the lobby give you a classic Filipino feel, the restaurant gives you a spectacular view and the computer room is readily available should you need to use one. The hotel gives off a cozy feeling--a home away from home. It made me feel that I'm living in a huge house so it's just about right to say that it's like a dream come true. Room - We were privileged to have stayed in the Penthouse. It is so spacious, beautiful and clean. It has all the essentials you will need either for short or long-stay. It also gives you a spectacular view of the city. It has floor-to-ceiling glass windows that allow sunlight to come in. But these are also equipped with blinds should you prefer a private setup. Food - They offer quite a wide variety of menu for breakfast. Every item is a good choice. One of the owner's suggestion was the Vigan longganisa. I didn't regret following it! He also suggested that we try their sisig which is what we ordered for dinner through Room Service. And it, by far, is the best sisig that I have tasted. My mom, who is a health-buff and not a fan of pork, indulged and set aside her diet after tasting it! Service - IMPECCABLE! This is the first and only hotel where I witnessed the owner himself serve the guests--gets their orders, serves their food & drinks and then really get to know each of them. I was surprised that when we were about to go out, the Front Desk staff handed us a list of places and restaurants that we could visit which was personally handwritten by the owner. He also was too kind to give us a tour on our second and third days. Being a hotelier for 7 years, i have learned a lot from Mr. FD. I will definitely choose to stay in this hotel every time I will visit Baguio. You will never go wrong with, NYC Manhattan Suites. Service -

It took us a while to find the place because they pinned the wrong location in Google Maps but now it's fixed. Our QR codes were released immediately after submitting all requirements to Baguio Visita, very responsive. They follow health & safety protocols upon check-in and have a parking space for guests. The room was clean and same as advertised, it was surprisingly big for the 4 of us. Everything was provided. The room has a kitchenette with common utensils, electric kettle, refrigerator, dining table, TV, and a balcony. Walking distance to Burnham Park and many restaurants like Good Taste, Cafe by the Ruins, etc. Very accommodating and rates are affordable.

It is cool and I agree that there is no air conditioner in the room. But it's sad that there is no toilet paper or toothbrush. I couldn't go out at night because the door was locked. The rooms are clean.

BHV had a promotion during the months of November and December 2021. The triple sharing room with plated breakfast was a great find in this kind of location. BHV is a few minutes walk to Burnham Park. The staffs are very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. Though we can say that the place has been built a long time ago, we still appreciated the cleanliness of the room and the whole hotel premises. We are just usually in the room to rest and sleep but still we enjoyed our full stay here.

This was recommended to my husband. So instead of luxury hotels in Baguio, we decided to try this since they have the Platinum suite (2 bedrooms) that was great to accommodate 6 pax. With the friendly reservation staff Ms Mirz, I was excited. However, to my extreme disappointment, albeit good thing I was well prepared for COVID-19 IPC practices (UV lights, Chlorox wipes and Lysol spray), the room was so DIRTY (as in!!! The floor was sticky!!!). I mopped the floors with lysol solution personally, you can see the dirt. The glass mirror was wiped and consumed a bottle of 80pcs wipes. The granite top was dirt black!!! The worst thing, despite those findings, I did not voice out my frustrations and tolerated. However, on our second day, worst buffet breakfast ever! I reserved 6 am for the table we used the first day. And because, I saw a table with reservations prior. When we went to Hoka Brew, the personnel said, that there was no call with a very rude cashier girl infront of us. Worst front desk personnel DAVID (or trainee) when I called the attention and have the appropriate actions, he lied many times telling us that no manager on duty and he even doesn’t know the management office. He told us that the Hoka Brew management (under the same management of the hotel, not a concessionaire) was not responding to any of his calls. My husband even talked to the owner Ms Mel Marquez. Nevertheless, we will NOT definitely go back with all the WORST experiences.
