City Résidence Avignon

Good place to stay for visiting Avignon. Room and bathroom were clean, also the small kitchen with microvawe and stove.

As someone who often travels solo for prolonged periods, my preference is to stay In aparthotels- no pressure to get up at a particular time and it reduces costs of having to eat out all of the time. I've had really good experiences with both Adagio and Odalys in France before and therefore had high hopes for City Residence. Unfortunately I was disappointed- my main gripe being that there was no air conditioning. No air conditioning and the temperature outside was around 34 degrees, turning the room into an oven. Even keeping the thick drapes closed to prevent the sun streaming through the window and using the provided tower fan hardly reduced the temperature. My entire stay was hot and extremely uncomfortable- I would have gladly paid more to stay elsewhere and it was a relief to leave Plus points were that the place was very clean and it's on a bus route which runs pretty well apart from Sundays when the service is very reduced. I would strongly recommend not staying here during the summer months, maybe later in the year when a/c isn't necessary and if you're on a budget. .

At first, I was shocked by the outward appearance which is mire like a prison cell block but the interior of the room was quite OK. It is not a high end hotel by any means but the price was right. The neighborhood was very dodgy but that can be said for the whole of central Avignon these days. Having to pay a "breakage deposit" was a first for me but the reception were very polite about it. The hotel is about 10 minutes walk ftom the old city and 30 minutes from the papal palace.
