It is not recommended to stay. Although it is a five-star hotel, the design is very average. The hotel is really not big. I thought the internal facilities would be more sophisticated, but there are no sanitary facilities. They are like four-star hotels. The most disgusting thing is when I checked in, I met an Indian. When I arrived, no one was there. I went upstairs to look for it and saw someone chatting in the small room (he was in it). He didn't even ask a word. I thought they were all residents. It took half an hour for him to come down. I asked him if he was upstairs. He said yes. I said I didn’t see it when I went up. He lied and said he didn’t see it. I was very angry and said you just saw it. He changed his story and said he didn’t know I was a guest. I said I wanted to complain. He actually said he was the manager or the owner of this hotel. I'm speechless The next day I saw other employees and asked, and they confirmed that he was completely lying. When I picked up my luggage, they gave me a small gift with a small card inside, and asked me to complain to the manager. I wrote a complaint letter estimated to be a thousand words long. But they won't fire that sb-named Sam because he has NZ status and is considered local. They can only wait for him to resign on his own. simply outrageous The breakfast in the hotel is good. It is delivered to the room. If you want to take a picture of the breakfast, you can try it. But I didn’t experience the service at all.

Absolutely fantastic experience! The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, specially the manager. The room were spotless and comfortable, made the stay feel luxurious. The location is ideal, close to major attractions but still peaceful for a good night’s rest. Breakfast was fresh and delicious, offering a wide variety of options. I would highly recommend Fitzroy Hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Definitely coming back!

Pros: The decor of the room is very nice, with 3m ceilings and large windows that open. The bathroom is spacious and the underfloor heating is a nice touch. Cons: There is much not to like. The hotel is noisy and we could hear people walking in the halls and upstairs at all hours of the night. The room appears spacious because of the high ceilings, but in fact is quite small. There is only one chair and a tiny table (for two people) wedged into a corner right next to the bathroom door. The room we had (Campbell Suite) overlooked a side yard where the hotel's bags of laundry were prominently on display, and the other window overlooked the street which was very busy with cars. There is only street parking available (and not necessarily near the hotel), with no drop-off area, so be prepared to walk if you don't get lucky finding a spot. Staff presented themselves as pleasant, but seemed put out with basic requests. Not sure about the security, as someone tried to open the door to our room in the middle of the night. It could have been another guest thinking it was their room, but it also could have been someone from outside the hotel. We were looking forward to our stay and expected Hotel Fitzroy to deliver a luxury experience, but we were totally disappointed.

From the warm welcome to the delightfully cosy and low-key but stylish rooms, Hotel Fitzroy was a great place to enjoy Auckland away from the CBD. From the heated bathroom floor to windows that can be opened to enjoy some fresh air, let alone great bedding it was easy to get very comfortable. Breakfast was a highlight - generous - amazing eggs benedict - delivered to your room or you could eat on the balcony with glimpses of Auckland harbour. There is a small but cosy library with a very well stocked bar that is open from 4pm. A short walk up the street is Ponsonby Road with lots of great dining, drinking and shopping options. And just around the corner is Sala, a first class yoga and pilates studio. All up, I would definitely return.

Dare I say this is the best hotel experience I’ve ever had? Every single thing is perfection when it comes to this hotel. From the extremely kind and incredibly accommodating staff, to the delicious breakfast and nightly receptions, to the lovely rooms, to the excellent location in the hip Ponsonby neighborhood, it truly is spectacular. I’ve stayed at hotels all over the world and there is a reason this hotel is ranked #1 in the area. We did not miss not staying downtown at all due to the numerous great restaurants and shops in walking distance, and if we wanted to go downtown, we either walked or took an affordable Uber ride. I usually like staying at large resort type hotels, but this beautiful boutique hotel takes the cake. We started our vacation out here, then went to another “hotel” on Waiheke, quickly checked out after one night, and ran back to the Hotel Fitzroy for 3 additional nights. I just have to mention the courteous staff one more time. Customer service is so important to make people feel welcomed when away from home. We interacted with six staff members and every single one was just so delightful. Thank you to everyone at this glorious hotel for the fabulous experience!

It's a fantastic hotel for a first-time solo visit to Auckland. It is in an excellent location within walking distance of many restaurants and shops. I loved the room; it was so charming, and I felt at home. The staff was delightful, and the breakfast in bed was next-level amazing! I had a few early morning tours, and the staff made sure to provide me with breakfast before I left for my all-day tours. That was so kind of them! Should I return to Auckland I would 100% stay at this hotel.

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Fitzroy for three nights at the beginning of our vacation in New Zealand and came back for the final night. We picked it because of its glowing reputation, and both of our stays surpassed our expectations. For all the amenities you get at this amazing boutique hotel, it's a steal of a deal. Wonderful service by the staff. Great location. One of the best hotel stays of our lives. Thank you to everyone at Hotel Fitzroy!

After Holland America cruise, extended several days in Auckland. Stayed at this B&B. Glad we did. Great location, walked tree lined streets down to the harbor. Had lunch then up the Sklyline tower. Hotel Fitzroy delicious breakfast delivered to room. Wine/beer/cheese at 5:09, met other travelers. Walked to nice dinners. Room quiet, great he'd and shower. We highly recommend
