Fabulous hotel - amazing views (we had a room on floor B) and had an unobstructed view of the lake and towards Ascona. The staff are fabulous - very friendly, helpful and speak fabulous English. The breakfast was great - continental style and constantly replenished. The pool is amazing - loads of sunbeds dotted around and again, amazing views. Ample car parking and shuttle bus to and from ascona. We had a fabulous time and wouldn’t hesitate in recommending the hotel to friends and family.

I was quite disappointed with hotel Casa Berno and the prime reason for the disappointment was the room. Other than the amazing view, the room did not feel like one that it could belong to a 4 star hotel. It felt like a very old room outdated bamboo furniture from the 70s, worn out carpet, bathroom that was very small with a very high bathtub and the fittings looked like they were from the 60s, very few electrical outlets - a very basic room that could not be called 4 star. I have stayed in better 3 star hotel rooms! There was not even a coffee maker in the room. I had to order tea and pay for it! The room that I had selected was a Panorama room, I had no idea that this room would be so vastly different from a “modern” panorama room that I happened to visit as our friends were staying in a “modern” room - the two rooms could have been in different hotels. The reason I give a rating of 3 stars and not less is because of the beautiful location, amazing view of the lake, beautiful outdoor pool, terrace, pick up service from Locarno, shuttle service, wonderful breakfast and efficient polite service across the board.

Short vacation with the dog. The staff was very friendly throughout. Even though the dog wasn't allowed in the restaurant, to my surprise he was allowed on the terrace, which was great. The staff there were also very accommodating and friendly. The room was as described and shown online. The view was really great (especially when the weather was nice). The surroundings were very beautiful, quiet and secluded. The shuttle to Ascona worked great too. Very nice atmosphere

The whole hotel has a view of the lake. Spacious room with large balcony, very clean. Restaurant and terrace with magnificent view, the dishes are delicious, the breakfast is perfect. After an uncomplicated check-in, we were given instructions. Our large room with a direct view of the lake was superbly renovated and furnished to a high standard. The WiFi worked perfectly, but unfortunately the safe is not suitable for a laptop. The bathroom is an ideal size, with a double sink and a walk-in shower. You can easily borrow an adapter for the socket from reception. The evening meal offered was of excellent quality and the service was also exemplary. When the weather is good, you can eat on the terrace with a magnificent view of Lake Maggiore. Parking is possible in the adjacent underground car park or in a partially covered car park above the hotel. There is a free shuttle to Ascona several times during the day. Conclusion: We can unreservedly recommend this excellently run, well-renovated private hotel.

I stayed in this splendid hotel with my family. The view and the recently renovated rooms are wonderful, with a splendid swimming pool and a relaxation area including sauna, Turkish bath and fitness. Friendly and professional staff. The impeccable cuisine we had a great time! We will be back!!

The hotel is in a very nice location. We arrived by public transport and were picked up from the train station. Quiet rooms, very good breakfast buffet with everything your heart desires. The evening meal was also very good and also had something for vegetarians.

Beautiful location, staff/service very friendly in all areas, rooms mostly renovated, these with very functional furnishings unfortunately a little lacking in charm, more of a business hotel atmosphere, balcony with a fantastic view, seating a little dated. Pool and gardens very well maintained, great view of Lake Maggiore, many beautiful lounging areas. Very nice restaurant terrace with a magnificent view. Breakfast buffet good, classic selection. Cake selection in the afternoon a little modest. The daily changing evening menu is definitely disappointing, also in comparison to previous years: rather simple/homely dishes, especially for the main course, no vegetarian menu option either (now a given in better restaurants), few vegetarian/vegan options à la carte, several dishes very!!! too salty. The salad buffet is very good and offers a wide selection.
