Hostel Saruya

Fujiyoshida|0.69km from city centre
Myself and my husband stayed 3 nights here, it was long enough. It is located not far from Shimoyoshida station, within walking distance. When we arrived check-in was easy and quick, they showed us through the main building to a separate outer building in a quiet little street. We both had very heavy luggage as we are staying in Japan for over 5 weeks, it was a little difficult to get the luggage to the outer house as it is all stones and steps! It is only a short distance from the main building. When arriving in the outer house, the lady showed us up a very small very steep set of wooden stairs with a small wooden handle going up and around to an upper floor, we managed to get the luggage up but I think it would be difficult for an older or less able person to get such luggage up these stairs. Don't get me wrong people with small cases or backpacks could get up easily, it was only because our luggage was so heavy, so please bear this in mind when choosing a room. We noticed 2 larger rooms down the stairs on the floor level, that might be more suitable for guests with large luggage? or even installing some kind of luggage area? The room was an ok size, there is very low ceilings/beams inside. and an overwhelming smell of cabbage soup. At first I thought it was because someone had been cooking in the room, but even after the 3 nights staying with the window open and the air con on full, the smell remained. Its not a nice smell and I have been in other ryokan style rooms with tatami mats and they do not smell like this. The room however was very clean and the beds very comfortable. A nice quiet street. Another thing to mention is that the door to the upper rooms are VERY noisy, maybe traditional in style but if anyone comes out of the room at night for the shared toilet downstairs, you know about it. The doors that open to the outer building are also very noisy, luckily we had guests that didn't come in and out too late at night. Other than that the shower room (X1) was clean and the toilets (X2) clean. There is no mirror in the room so you must go down the stairs to the bathroom area for a mirror, this area is nice and clean too!-free coffee and tea in the outer house part where we stayed. And a good selection of pretty plants to look at :) The town itself, is quiet, we rented bikes for 500yen and got our use out of them! The bikes are a little old in style and the chain came off 3 times when I tried to change gear, the other bikes chain came off on the bumpy path. we didn't have problems once the bikes were going though. we cycled to and around lake Kawaguchi which in total is around 34km. This was well worth it, as we saw many cool things around the lake. There is a sento not far from the hostel but unfortunately I didn't get a chance to try it, it looks quite new though. Decent supermarkets can be walked to within 20-30 mins. There is a 7/11 near by too. other than that, it is best to hire bikes and cycle to areas, be

Fletcher Hotel Restaurant de Wipselberg-Veluwe

Beekbergen|2.08km from city centre
Let me start off by saying: if you are looking for a nice area for walking and cycling, this hotel may be worth it. The surrounding woods are quite nice. Other than that, don't expect much. As others have already mentioned, it's not a typical hotel but more of an outdated holiday resort. It's not even close to being worth 4 stars. There are two rooms per building, using the same main entrance, and you have to pay extra if you want the ground level room - which is apparently also the only one with a kettle and coffee machine. The stairs to the first-floor hotel room are quite steep and not accessible to everyone. The vibe it gave was 'sleeping over in your 70-year-old uncle/grandpa's attic'. The rooms are very old-fashioned, with no clock, an old radio you can't plug in because of the lack of outlets, and a bit of a musty smell. The 'two-person bed' is just two single beds pushed together, so if you want to be intimate with your partner or just sleep close together you will most definitely end up in the gap in between. The beds don't sleep great, either. There is no airconditioning so it gets quite hot in the summer with no way of cooling down, and the wifi is not too stable. There is also some mould in the shower, as well as rust, and the window in the bathroom does not open. The toilet sometimes refused to flush properly. Breakfast was standard, don't expect any vegan options except for bread and peanut butter. You are allowed to take some stuff for lunch, though, which is nice. There is no fridge in your room however, so keeping things cool is not an option. Also bring your own cutlery, plate & cup if you plan on buying breakfast/lunch at a local supermarket, because the room only comes with two plastic-lined paper cups. There is only one vegetarian main course on the restaurant menu, but the chef was very kind and made the vegetarian lunch options dinner-sized for us. Vegan would definitely be impossible, though. The restaurant and pool are also not that easily accessible for people in a wheelchair or with a walking impairment. Definitely get some sort of voucher or discount deal, otherwise the prices are way too high for what you get. You're not allowed to order food from Thuisbezorgd etc. The pool is... well, it's not much. It's small but barely anyone goes for a swim there, so chances are you will have it all to yourself. Bring something like a diving game or a ball if you want to have anything fun to do. The showers don't really work and half of them only have cold water. There is a tennis court but it will cost about 12 euros per hour to use it, and the 'sports fields' that are on the map they give you have become overgrown and cannot be used. You're not allowed to park your bike next to/close to your building but there is an old shed-like building in which you can store your bike. There's also bikes for hire but we brought our own and so didn't look at the prices. The staff members were quite nice and patient, though there wa

Zenzez Hotel & Lounge

This small hotel is truly a little piece of heaven! The beautiful lounge/breakfast room is so welcoming and elegant, and Petra is a wonderful host. Nothing was any trouble and it was lovely to meet someone who takes so much pride in what she does. I particularly loved the fresh flowers and candles 💐 Breakfast was made to order, everything was fresh and beautifully presented. Room was at the front of the hotel but there was very little noise from passing traffic. Shower great, lots of lovely towels and quality shower gel/hair wash was provided. Very comfortable bed and 3 great nights’ sleep! Petra is a star! Nancy & Caroline 😊

As I stayed there the second time, I was again confirmed that this is a really good hotel for professional buf also leisure stays. The spacious room with a balcony, the kind and supportive staff, the breakfast with a big variety of food as well as the comfortable lounge area incl. terace, all this makes it worthy to stay there. In addition, the bikes are easy to rent for a good price, so that any kind of flexibility is offered. I will certainly come again.

The hotel in the forest, the hotel with the most beautiful surrounding environment I have ever stayed in; the inside of the hotel is also very warm and comfortable! Staying for a few more days, riding horses, and taking a walk should be extremely enjoyable! Put a few outdoor photos deep in the hotel
