I had to move from my hotel in Amman to Retaj as I wanted to expand my visit and my hotel was fully booked, the room is spacious and clean but it was super noisy because of noise coming from street and because of staff attitude.. I put do not disturb sign on my door however the cleaning guy was putting his equipment just infront of my door and making huge noise that woke me up at 6 am. As for breakfast nothing is special and I ordered Greek salad at my room but it was v bad.

I stayed here as part of my G Adventures tour last month. It was a comfortable stay with friendly and helpful service. Check-in was fast and I even used the hotel car once to take me into the downtown area. I paid the driver 5 JD as opposed to the 2-3 JD I would have paid for a cab. The breakfast buffet was just OK. There was only fruit one of the mornings. I wanted more of a hot breakfast so I ordered an omelette from the kitchen. It was nice to have eggs and toast each morning! I also ordered room service one night. Overall this hotel was clean and friendly.

During my 8-day tour of Jordan with G Adventures, our tour group stayed 3 nights at the Retaj Hotel. For the first two nights, I stayed in room 212, and for the third night, I stayed in room 303. I found room 303 to be in slightly better condition than 212. Both had comfortable beds and a stocked mini fridge. Bathroom in 212 had a bathtub/shower and no bidet. Bathroom in 303 had a walk-in shower and bidet but no bathtub. I had no problem with noise in either room. There were no complimentary bottles of water like some other Jordanian hotels that I had stayed at. Wi-fi was free and it was easy to connect and reliable. Hot water supply was good and the air conditioner worked great. The breakfast buffet was limited in selection. Room service was good. Staff was friendly and helpful. Communicating in English was not a problem.

This hotel needs some major renovation and rethinking, including some female employees. My room was extremely dark with two lamps barely working and only one plug working in the entire room. I had to unplug a lamp to charge my phone and sit in the dark. The bedding and towels were very old and had stains on them. There were holes in the wall, the bathroom door and furniture. I hear everything that was happening in the corridor, including the elevators that beeped at every floor every minute. The breakfast was terrible with no fresh produce at all...no fruit or vegetables besides canned ones...stale bread and deep-fried food...and not even fresh coffee or milk...only powdered stuff from a bag. The wifi connection was very poor and often stopped working for long periods of time. The staff tried to be nice, but hardly spoke any English. I had to go downstairs to the reception to draw pictures of what I needed, which included hangers for my clothes, which the room didn't have. The cleaning service also wanted to clean the room before 8am to get it over with even though I was not yet ready to leave my room. This was just unacceptable. Overall my experience was extremely uncomfortable and the entire time I had the impression that the management's sole aim is to save on everything. I would say that this is a 1* hotel at best. Just because there is an elevator that does not justify the 4* rating. Please do something to improve your amenities, breakfast and service.

We didnt get our drinks on the menu. we choose to call and ask them to give us our paid menu but they refuse to offer it. really bad place. this is the most constribution Room 412 regard Sama

This was a horrible hotel. The room was dirty-my socks were filthy! The bed was short-our feet hung off (and were short to average height) and the pillows were a hard foam. The air conditioner was positioned so it blew in our faces all night. The bathroom was so small!-the shower had no where to put shampoo, or even our soap except on the floor. The water sprayed and ran out onto the floor of the bathroom, soaking it. The water bottles they gave us were itty-bitty, could drink it in a few gulps. The breakfast had a lot of selection but was horrible-even the bread was stale. They had signs for cold milk that we put in our cereal but it was the hot milk and the sign for hot milk for our coffee was cold milk. The location was horrible for tourists - on a busy street with nothing around it. Had to Uber anywhere we wanted to go - and you had to know where you wanted to go. It was $7 to go for dinner and back. Couldn’t walk to a restaurant or a store. Felt stranded. The best part of the hotel was the receptionist (could have been the manager)- he was very nice and kind.

I stayed at the Retaj Hotel for two nights at the beginning of a group tour, and one night at the end of the tour. For a three star hotel, it’s quite nice. During my first stay, I asked to change rooms as my safe didn’t work and the window would not lock properly. The staff quickly changed my room without complaint, and I was happy with the second room. The bed was extremely comfortable, but the air conditioning unit was a bit noisy. I heard complaints from tour members that rooms facing the street are noisy, so make sure to request a room facing the back. On my second stay, my room was perfect. It looked remodeled and the air conditioning unit was quiet with a more spacious bathroom. The bed, again, was extremely comfortable. Breakfast is average, but the restaurant has a lovely view over Amman. The staff were also incredible friendly. For a budget stay, it’s a great hotel.

***Pros: - Nice design lobby, clean hotel, same location with other famous hotels. - Quite nice room, good bed, clean toilet. - Busy street but there is a bridge for pedestrian. Walk to the other side, you will find a nice cookie shop: the mill bakery - please try the dates cookies, you will not regret! - Nice breakfast, very helpful staff during your breakfast. - Nice dinner, a must try: vegan deep fried spring-rolls. ***Cons: - Busy street and no big shops in the small distance. - Exchange from EUR/USD to JOD is okay, not JOD back.
