We booked the hotel as a special experience for our friends 50th birthday she is a massive Harry Potter fan -on the day we where due to travel storm Bert hit the us and we called the hotel in the morning to ask if they could help us with possibly changing the dates on the reservation-the staff were rude and dismissed us saying the snow was fine there (even though the town of Alnwick had cancelled its festive lights switch on due to the snow and weather warning . So our only option was to risk out life’s and travel the 3 hour car ride from Scotland we ( 4 ladies) got stranded in the snow for 3 hours and where so frightened we contacted the hotel numerous times to explain our situation and where told the mangers on holiday call back on Monday The manager has now messaged us saying tough luck as he doesn’t care about his customer wellbeing or safety

Stayed at Crux for the weekend so we could visit Alnwick castle. We are both Harry Potter fans and definitely got that feel as soon as we walked in. Stayed in the adventures room, which was amazing. Would definitely recommend staying if your a Harry Potter fan. The staff was amazing too, always there to help. Will definitely be recommending to friends and family

Stayed in the Dark Quarters, amazing room very comfortable bed. Staff are very friendly with good food and drink . Would definitely recommend this little gem to anyone going to Alnwick. Very close walking distance to the castle and gardens.

Wonderful 1 night stay at Crux, we had the Adventurers room. Subtle Harry Potter touches, nothing over the top. Beautiful bathroom, very clean. Loved the bathrobes and great size towels. Bed and pillows were super comfortable. We had a few drinks during happy hour downstairs in The Dirty Bottles, stayed here to eat and that didn't disappoint. Great portion sizes and reasonably priced too. Breakfast was included, again very good quality and plenty to eat. No noise could be heard from other rooms or from downstairs. Great staff and amazing location. Would love to visit again!

We stayed for one night with our 2 year old daughter and we loved it so much that we’ve already rebooked! Staff were really helpful about us dropping our luggage off early and took it up to our room for us when our room was ready. We stayed in the Dark Quarters and the attention to detail in the room was just brilliant - the Black family wallpaper in particular was so cool. We’d just visited the castle and our daughter thought our bedroom was in the castle and she was really excited - I did see her point as the room felt very grand and special! We had dinner that evening in The Dirty Bottles, we had the Sunday roast and it was lovely. I don’t drink and they had some great mocktails available. We wanted to make the most of the room so got our (bath)robes on and watched a couple of Harry Potter films! You order breakfast the night before, we both got smoked salmon and scrambled eggs and breakfast was great - you could help yourself to cereal, fruit, yoghurt etc alongside what you’d ordered. Our daughter has chatted about it every day since we came back and how much fun it was “in castle with witches hats” - can’t wait to visit again!

Such a lovely little hotel! The decor was very well done, so many little details in the rooms from the starry sky ceilings to the dark blue subway tile in the bathroom. The hotel staff were so kind and thoughtful, they really made our stay comfortable and relaxing. The pub downstairs is convenient and the food and drinks are superb! And the location is great, right in the middle of Alnwick, and barely a 5 min walk to Alnwick Castle just around the corner.
