Santiago Guesthouse Kyoto

Gion/Kiyomizu Temple
A decent guesthouse with comfy beds and spacious showers. There's a little kitchenette in the luggage/common area. Downsides are the 4pm check-in, which is a bit late and the sleeping cubes. The beds are comfortable and there's plenty of room, but the top beds have an open top. So the noise of anyone moving/snoring or people using the lights is completely unavoidable. The first night was no good because of these factors. Other than that, the location is good and everything is clean and tidy.

Although it’s a bit far to the Kyoto train station, if you know how to take the bus, there are 3 bus stops + 1 Shijouoomiya train station which are really closed to this hotel (only 6 to 10 mins walk), which can lead you to anywhere of the tourist spots !! 👍🏻 hotel located in a quiet street which gives you a well sleep at night. 😴The hostel of this hotel are helpful, they helped us to return our kimono via the local post since we are rush in time to travel around. 📤 They replied the email daily and fast, at the first day we couldn’t find their reception to check in (Just found out it’s a self check system that they had already sent you a password to your email earlier). 📧 They helped us to take care of our luggage after we check out our room, as we were going to nearby spots after the living. All the facilities and equipment are clean, you can tell they had mopped the floor, clean anywhere of the kitchen, restroom and sleeping room all the way around and leaving with no dust. 🪣👍🏻 my conclusion is, I will definitely come back to book their hotels, their signature brand “Risshisha”, next time when I come back to travel again. Once again, thank you for your 5 stars services !! 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Gion/Kiyomizu Temple
It takes 15 minutes to walk from the subway station. It is a bit far. Yasaka Shrine and Kiyomizu Temple are nearby. It is very convenient for sightseeing. It is very clean. There is no problem with mixed sex accommodation. Everyone has a sense of boundaries. It is safe. The price is also cheap in Kyoto. It is very cost-effective.

The place has an excelente location, easy to get there. The room was cleaned and organized. However, there is no person at the front desk to ask questions or ask for help. The code for entering to the room was sent by SMS, but since we were traveling the service for SMS of our phone company does not work outside our country, so we did not receive the message since we were traveling. They do not have an e-mail address, so the check in instructions could not be send there. When we arrived to the place was late and we found the front desk empty even though we still arrived in the front desk service hours. We had a hard time contacting the hotel but luckily could get some help in calling the administration to get our room number and the code.

This was such a nice hotel! Everything was perfectly clean, and I felt very comfortable during my stay. I think this is the nicest place I have stayed in recently. I was glad that everything was clean and well-organized. They tell you everything you need to know in a little folder in your room. They also answered my questions very quickly and kindly. The best parts for me were that the heating and water heater worked, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was spotless, and they explained everything I was curious about in detail in the folder, on signs, or in email communications. One thing I didn't know until I got here is that there is a shared microwave, which is nice when you get food from the convenience store.

Kyoto Station and surrounding areas
We enjoyed the room and the house which is really easily accessible from Kyoto train station (10min by bus). I especially appreciated the suggestions of visits around the hotel, and the public bath recommanded, which I did try! I recommand also the park. A lot of public transport can lift you to the main spots of Kyoto. About the house, it may miss one shower at least, it was a little busy the evening. Otherwise everyting was great, i totally recommand !

Kyoto Station and surrounding areas
The hostel is near Kyoto Station, about 5-10 minutes' walk away, and it is very convenient to go anywhere. Many attractions can be reached in about half an hour's walk, such as Fushimi Inari Taisha, Tofukuji Temple, Toji Temple, and Kamogawa... There are free tea bags and coffee beans, and you can make your own coffee. There is a kitchen and a refrigerator, which is very convenient.

Kyoto Utano Youth Hostel

Arashiyama/Sagano/Takao
The environment is superb, the scenery and layout are very good, I can't believe this is a youth hostel, the bed size is also suitable, and it is very considerate to prepare a balcony for drying clothes, as well as bedside tables and lockers, and there is a super large and fully functional buffet restaurant. I didn't have time to enjoy it this time, I will come again! However, the hotel's garbage classification bins (the word ”burning” is red, maybe many Chinese people don't know that it is hazardous waste, so paper and chopsticks are not thrown in...) In addition, a friendly reminder to Chinese people, please throw toilet paper directly into the toilet, because Japanese toilet paper is very thin and degradable, and it will dissolve in water, so there is no need to use a trash can! ! ! In addition, staying in a youth hostel requires a higher level of self-help awareness. Please remember to wipe the countertop after using the sink... Because of this youth hostel, I want to immediately register ®️ to become a youth hostel member, and choose youth hostels first when traveling alone in the future. The experience is really great. This is the first time I have written such a long review. But in fact, I am worried that my recommendation will cause a rush. After all, Japan's small land area has limited reception capacity. I am afraid that I will not be able to stay there again after recommending it...
