Bassiana Hotel es Etterem

A friend and I stayed one night. The rooms were clean if a little old fashioned. My room has a nice view but was very hot, I think because the blind to cover the skylight was broken. I can cope with a bit of heat but it would be unbearable for many. My friend was also hot but couldn't open her window as it faced the main road. Breakfast wasn't amazing but we were probably a bit spoiled from our Budapest hotel. In the morning, my friend felt unwell and arranged to pay extra to stay until 2pm. I went to the spa and came back for lunch. The restaurant was closed so I left to go somewhere else but they stopped me saying my friend had left without paying. I said she was still in the room, rang to speak to her, but they insisted. By the time she had packed and dressed and come down, it was too late to go anywhere else (we had a taxi booked) . They did apologise, but when we ordered a bottle of water, we had to pay for it.

This hotel suited us. Right from the start we received good welcome from reception and throughout the stay they were cheerful, always acknowledged us when we came in and out and were happy to call us taxis. The place was very clean. Breakfast met all our needs: selection of cheeses/salami/ham, musli, fresh fruit cocktail, bowls of fruit, pastries, yogurt, avocado, breads, bacon, sausages, scrambled egg, beans, salad, peppers, coffee/hot chocolate machine was good, fruit juices etc. I really wanted to use the hot tub/sauna but we ran out of time so can’t comment on that. Our apartment itself (703) was very good. We had 2 floors with 2 bedrooms. Each bedroom had a good tv, nice decor, beds and pillows I found super comfy, had a better night sleep than I do at home. Only negative for me was that the bedroom we had never had a wardrobe, the one next door had a good wardrobe and there was also one downstairs if we were really bothered and wished to hang up and run up and down the stairs, but we never had much clothes for the weekend so were happy to stack jumpers under bedside table and I lay my trousers over the top of my case so wasn’t a huge issue for me. Shower was great! Bathroom modern and clean. Had a hairdryer, shower cap and shower gel and body lotion. Lounge area had a sofa, dining table and kitchen area with fridge, microwave, kettle, hob and pans/utensils. They provided a tea towel and dish liquid, few sachets of coffee and tea bags but no sugar or milk cartons. The system they used was if you wanted the bedroom cleaning the next day you had to put a sign on door the evening before (before midnight). If you wanted towels changing then had to let reception know. Big plus for us was that the hotel was very quiet, no outside noise to disturb our sleep and that we had 2 bedrooms so our daughter had her own room and a proper bed. This was in preference to 1 hotel room with a sofa bed which I didn’t want. I thought the cost was good. Only other comment is that the hotel is a little out of the centre which we knew when we booked, but chose the hotel based on cost, having the 2 bedrooms and a lounge rather than all in a hotel room, good reviews and the fact that it was quiet as wasn’t in the city centre. There was option to use the nearby public transport but we were happy to walk, or called a taxi when we needed to. Overall I was really happy with the stay.

We have visited the hotel for a couple of times. This was our first booking since the hotel rooms refurbishments in 2023. Pro: The room was very lovely, nice colour, very spacious. The spa is clean, lots of sunbeds, despite the hotel was full The staff is very nice Excellent food , excellent choice Cons. The rooms are advertised with L’Occitane toiletries . When we arrived sinto the room, there were onlly hotel branded toiletries in the bathroom, not L’occitane. I asked for these at the reception, the receptionist said they are going to replace them, but it seemed to me, he had no clue what is Loccitane. When we went back to our room, we still had no Loccitane products. We called the receptionist again. He said , he is going to send somebody over . In a couple of minutes later, the housekeeping supervisor arrived, she was holding the same toiletries we’ve already had. When I told her, they are not the same quality, she said , she was told the had to stock up the hotel rooms these cheap products for 3 months, because they have only few supply of Loccitane products. I think this is not acceptable , the rooms are advertised with these premium products, this is part of the not so cheap rooms, so provide them The room has got Nespresso coffee machine, unfortunately the coffee capsules are not Nespresso, it is Dalmay
Holdvirág Hotel

The hotel is situated next to Austrian border (maybe 40 km), exiting the express way M86. I was specifically looking for something in Hungary to stay overnight, and that was the perfect place. Big parking, with free places even in front of the reception. The room was actually more like a small apartment, with a kitchen partially separated from the rest of the room, with all what is necessary inside. So probably you could stay there for a longer period of time and still not feel any discomfort. Very clean, perfectly heated, not too warm, not to cold. The breakfast is surprisingly good, a lot of options, traditional Hungarian and not only. In a few words, I think there is nothing more you could request from a place for one night. Very happy with the choice.

I was once in this hotel x years ago and had it come to mind as rather ”absorbed” and with a ”light socialist touch”. The greater the positive surprise was when I was at my current visit. The rooms are comfortable and tastefully renovated. From furniture to coloring they give a very invited impression. The hotel offers half-pension for all guests. I was also positively surprised by the quality of the food, Both at breakfast and dinner. Drinks can be ordered at la carte, here too the service is quite attentive. The heavy weight of the house is naturally on the cure and wellness facilities. The house has 3 thermal pools (1 Inside pool and 2 outdoor pools) and a separate wellness area. My main criticism point is that the sauna and steam bathrooms each offer not much more than 5 places. This is, of course, too little if the house is fully covered. The hotel offers (low) internet, which is often not working in the rooms.
Park Inn by Radisson Sarvar Resort & Spa

This was our 3rd visit to this hotel and this time we had mixed feelings. We booked a normal room and got updraded to an apartment, which was really nice and spacious. We came during the week to avoid the crowd in the spa but this time the hotel was extremely crowded with Czech tourists. The restaurant was so crowded that we could not get a table at breakfast. Drinks for dinner are included but it was difficult to get a waiter and order a drink. Food is delicious and good variety but not so much for children. No wiener schnitzel, french fries or pasta. Allergens are indicated, but not correct. So if you have food allery, make sure to doublecheck with ths waitrers. As it is buffet , guests are mixing up the spoons and forks so it is safer if you ask for food from fhe waiter if you have serious food allery. Hotel is connected to the spa which is very comfortable. Drinks available all day, which is great. Check in is a nightmare, very long queue. We checked in online in advance but it did not mean anything, there is no fast check in to get the room cards. In the restaurant chairs are really dirty, some are in very bad condition. I would say the hotel is good value for money, still the best option in Sarvar but service should be improved.
