Anhui Grand Theater is one of the landmark buildings in Hefei. It is located in the center of the old city, diagonally opposite the bell tower.

Basic Overview

&bull; Geographical location: located in the southeast corner of the intersection of Huizhou Avenue and Wuhu Road in Hefei.

&bull; Historical evolution: designed in 1981, completed at the end of 1985, put into use on New Year&#39;s Day 1986, fully renovated and renamed &quot;Anhui Grand Theater&quot; in 2001, and completed the mechanical stage upgrade in 2010.

&bull; Building scale: covers an area of ​​16,500 square meters, with a total construction area of ​​15,000 square meters. The auditorium has 1,631 seats, including 961 seats downstairs, 608 seats upstairs, and 62 seats in the boxes on both sides.

&bull; Stage facilities: The stage entrance is 8 meters high, 15.5 meters wide and 20 meters deep; the lifting orchestra pit is 3.2 meters &times; 13.8 meters, and there is a 2 &times; 17 meter lifting platform 10 meters away from the curtain, which can be raised to 1.5 meters high; 48 electric hoists, with a spacing of 30 cm between the hoists; 2 120-inch electronic screens at the stage entrance.

&bull; Supporting facilities: There are two dressing rooms and two makeup rooms in the backstage, and 2 VIP makeup rooms, which can provide makeup for 70 people at the same time. The VIP building has two reception rooms and a conference room. It also has automatic sprinkler fire extinguishing and intelligent water cannon fire extinguishing systems, indoor and outdoor security monitoring, fire alarm and fire monitoring systems, etc.
Function and Use

&bull; Performance function: For many years, it has been responsible for important meetings and all major celebrations of the Anhui Provincial Party Committee, Provincial Government, Provincial People&#39;s Congress, and Provincial Political Consultative Conference. It is also a place for famous literary and artistic groups and artists at home and abroad to perform on stage. For example, on February 23, 2023, the first large-scale industrial drama in Anhui Province, &quot;Fire Illuminating the World&quot;, premiered here.

&bull; Meeting function: The conference room is located on the second floor of the VIP building on the west side of the theater. It can accommodate 100 people and can hold small meetings or press conferences.

&bull; Training function: Anhui Grand Theater Art Training Center was established in 1996. It is one of the earliest institutions in Hefei that specializes in art education and training. It offers adult body ballet, classical dance, folk dance and other courses all year round, as well as children&#39;s ballet, children&#39;s Chinese dance and other training programs.
