The highly anticipated 8-week course, Writers Room 2 - Pitch to Performance, will transport you from the traditional classroom setting and immerse you in a simulated writers room. Here, you will collaborate with fellow students to create an entire live sketch show from scratch. With the guidance and expertise of the teacher, serving as the Head Writer, you will engage in the exhilarating process of pitching ideas, crafting compelling sketches, editing and refining content, and staging the show. The course concludes with a thrilling live performance of the final sketch show, where you'll witness your hard work come to life on stage. It's important to note that participation in the live performance is optional for Writers Room 2 students. Throughout the course, you'll acquire essential skills such as pitching ideas, receiving feedback, collaborative sketch development, writing for live performance, and mastering the art of editing and re-writing sketches. Additionally, you'll explore production considerations and show development to enhance your overall understanding of the creative process. To enroll in Writers Room 2, completion of Writers Room 1 - Sketch Fundamentals or a similar course is required. Alternatively, if you possess a strong background in writing sketch comedy, you can submit two script examples of your work for consideration. Each session of this enriching course spans 2.5 hours, and there are a total of 8 sessions, including the final live show and a tech run for the performance. Writers Room 2 - Pitch to Performance is organized by Big Fork Theatre, a dedicated hub for long-form improvisation and sketch comedy.
