This 2-hour workshop led by professional dancer Audrey Lanoux is the perfect opportunity to delve into the world of Horton contemporary dance technique. Hosted at Ottawa Dance Directive in Ottawa, Ontario, this workshop will introduce participants to the fundamentals of this unique style. Created by dancer and choreographer Lester Horton, Horton technique is based on six movement categories which consist of detailed exercises known as Studies. These Studies encompass various elements such as Projections, Locomotions, Preludes, Rhythms, Improvisations, and Fortifications. Throughout the workshop, Audrey Lanoux, a highly experienced dance instructor and performer, will guide attendees through floor work, standing and travelling exercises, and a final combination. No prior dance experience is necessary, making this workshop accessible to all. It is recommended that participants bring a yoga mat for added comfort during the floor work segment.
