Join the 2023 Witches & Warlocks Stand Up Paddle on the New River in Fayetteville, West Virginia. The event will take place on Sunday, October 29th. Participants will gather at the upper Fayette Station Parking lot, where they will need to sign a waiver in advance. It is crucial for attendees to be able to swim and wear Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs). Please note that this event is not suitable for first-time paddlers. Participants must feel confident in navigating the boards and be aware of the risks associated with the river. The paddle will begin at the upper beach at Fayette Station, wearing PFDs, and continue for approximately 500 yards upstream on the calm water, ending back at the beach. While this is a leisurely paddle, beginners should keep in mind that the river's current can present challenges. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, the event is limited to a maximum of 80 participants. If you reserve a spot but cannot attend, kindly inform us so that we can offer the opportunity to others. This will also help us with parking arrangements and allow for smooth launching and exiting from the river. Pre-registration is required, along with completing a waiver. We encourage participants to carpool or use the upper overflow parking area at Fayette Station. Upon arrival, please unload your boards in the upper beach parking lot and then move your vehicle to the overflow lot to accommodate others. In case of high water levels, a decision will be made before the event either to relocate or cancel. For board rentals, please contact Mountain Surf Paddle Sports.
