Back by popular demand, the Wild, Big & Wonderful Canvas Painting WEEKENDER is set to take place in Peel at the Artreach Studios on July 13th-14th, 2024. This exciting workshop offers a unique opportunity for adults to express themselves through abstract painting on a large canvas. Led by experienced instructors, participants will embark on a creative journey of exploration and self-expression. With a focus on letting go and creating art from within, attendees will have the chance to create a stunning piece of home decor while learning about art history and having fun in the process. The workshop will delve into various techniques used by master and contemporary abstract painters, including Willem De Kooning, Soulagees, Patrick Heron, Helen Frankenthaler, and Gerard Richter. Through guided exercises and warm-ups, participants will learn about color palettes, composition, and how to avoid creating muddy colors. The workshop will also explore the role of movement and rhythm in painting, helping attendees free their inner artist. The event will kick off with a short presentation on the expressionist movement's influence on contemporary art. All materials will be provided, and participants will be welcomed into a spacious warehouse-style gallery/studio space. Refreshments, including cake, biscuits, fruit, and a selection of teas and coffee, will be served throughout the workshop.
