Starting from Ironbridge, hikers will trace the historic railway path towards Coalford, passing through Lloyd’s Head to Jackfield. Gain insights into the causes and effects of slippage, as well as the various efforts made to restore and stabilize the terrain. The route includes a scenic river crossing via the Memorial Bridge before heading back to Ironbridge along the Lloyds. This 4-mile walk is classified as easy, with a leisurely pace and good paths, though some muddy sections may be encountered. Led by Chris Bullas, the walk features minimal steps but no stiles. Please note that the Lloyds section has limited footways. Prepare for varying weather conditions and ensure you have adequate supplies, as no purchase options are available en route. Children under 18 are welcome if accompanied by a responsible adult capable of the distance and pace. Parking in the Gorge can be challenging, so plan accordingly. Medals are awarded for completing specified distances across multiple walks during the festival, including the prestigious Cartman Challenge medal for over 150 miles.
