Embark on Walk 12, "The Industrial Archaeology of Benthall," covering 4 miles in Ironbridge. Starting at The Toll House, journey through the historic Benthall woodlands, rich in diverse flora and fauna. Follow the route towards Patten’s Quarry, where you can appreciate and identify the various plant and animal species along the way. The walk presents a moderate challenge at a leisurely pace, mostly through woodland terrain that may have muddy sections. Expect steps and boardwalks in the woodland, but no stiles to navigate. Note that this walk is not suitable for dogs. Led by Walk Leader Bob Thomas, this exploration offers insight into the area's past industries before returning to The Toll House. Participants are advised to come prepared with water, snacks, and appropriate footwear for the potentially changing weather. Children under 18 are welcome with adult supervision. Allow ample time for parking in the gorge, as public transport options are limited. Medals are available for achieving milestones in distance covered during the festival, with the ultimate Cartman Challenge medal awaiting those who complete over 150 miles across multiple walks.
