Starting at The Toll House in Ironbridge, this challenging route takes walkers through historical sites such as Arlescott Medieval Village and Much Wenlock Olympic field. The journey begins by crossing the iconic Iron Bridge and continues along the scenic River Severn to Buildwas Bridge. Trekking along the Severn Way to Sheinton, hikers will pass through Bannister’s Coppice and Homer before reaching the quaint Thankful Harley Church for a brief stop. The trail then ascends towards Wenlock Edge at Presthope, joining the Shropshire Way for a lunch break. Following the Shropshire Way towards Much Wenlock, walkers will encounter the remnants of Arlescott Medieval Village and traverse through Wyke before returning to Iron Bridge via Benthall Edge Wood. Preparedness is key for this challenging hike, so ensure you have proper footwear, ample water, and suitable provisions. Children aged 12-18 accompanied by a responsible adult may participate, with prior arrangements. Parking may be limited, so plan accordingly, and public transport options are available but limited. Participants completing 25, 50, 75, or 100 miles over multiple walks during the festival can earn medals, with a special Cartman Challenge medal for those surpassing 150 miles.
