Event description:Tending to ancestral embers, Camryn Ruthven (she/her) explores the Gàidhlig lineage through song, with a focus on honouring and reclaiming aspects of women’s traditions from the Gàidhealtachd... from keening grief rituals and boundary-breaking bardesses to work songs and bagpiping trailblazers. This evening weaves performances of traditional Gaelic melodies and original ancestrally-inspired compositions with story-sharing, research, and historic photographs, offering a glimpse into the various facets of women’s lives, work, social roles and music in the Scottish Highlands.
