About the workshop: In this two-hour workshop, we’ll utilize Tarot to flush out the unnecessary elements in your writing and focus on the important aspects. We’ll draw cards together and learn Tarot spreads to help shape our story’s focus, set our intentions, and pull our pieces from abstraction into creation. From there, we will work on the following: Abstractions drawn from our card pullsA free writing/automatic/spirit writing exercise focusing on our memories/subconsciousFinishing with image touchstonesAn entry/beginner-level knowledge of Tarot is strongly recommended along with your own Tarot or Oracle deck. Tickets are $10-20 sliding scale, pay-what-you-can. About the instructor: Hillary Leftwich (she/her) is a neurodivergent writer and author of Ghosts Are Just Strangers Who Know How to Knock (Agape Editions, 2023, 2nd edition) and Aura (Future Tense Books and Blackstone Audio Publishing, 2022). She owns Alchemy Author Services and Writing Workshop and teaches creative writing at several universities and colleges along with Lighthouse Writers, a local nonprofit for adults, youth, and the unhoused populations. She focuses her writing on class struggle, single motherhood, trauma, mental illness, the supernatural, ritual, and the impact of neurological disease. She is a professional Tarot and Bones reader, an Usui Reiki Master Teacher, Death Doula, and teaches Tarot and Tarot writing workshops focusing on strengthening divination abilities and writing.
