Established over a decade ago by musician Tom Cronin, the Tyneside Mandolin Orchestra is a dedicated community of mandolin enthusiasts based in Newcastle. With a repertoire that encompasses a wide range of genres, including folk, jazz, and rock, this ensemble showcases their passion for the mandolin through their performances. Alongside more than 20 mandolins, the orchestra also features other fretted instruments and even a mandolin bass, creating a dynamic and diverse sound. Performing regularly across the north east and in their home city of Newcastle Upon Tyne, the Tyneside Mandolin Orchestra is committed to preserving the long-standing tradition of community mandolin orchestras. On February 8, 2024, the orchestra will be featuring the Caedmon Choir in a special event held at The Lit & Phil in Newcastle. Unfortunately, tickets for this event are already sold out.
