Are you stuck with a story and need a new way forward? Does your nearly-finished draft need feedback? Does your novel need a rethink? Join us for four sessions of craft lessons and guided revision exercises that will give you the tools to bring out the best in your fiction project. Facilitator Emily Johnson will lead a small group of writers through various lenses week to week that can be used to revise your piece. Writers will also swap pieces with other writers to provide feedback. Each writer will also receive a personalized feedback letter for one short piece of work by the facilitator. By the end of the four weeks, you will have explored various stages of revision, revised your own work and provided feedback on a peer's work, and can identify where you are in your revision process. Themes for revision week to week are as follows: Week 1: POV & Engines, Point of the Telling Pt. 1
Week 2: Time, Structure, Plot, Point of the Telling Pt. 2
Week 3: Character, Scenes, & Summary
Week 4: Complexity & Nuance Facilitator Bio: Emily Johnson is a writer and teacher dividing her time between Brooklyn and Toronto. She has an MFA in Fiction from Columbia University, where she was the Print Fiction Editor of the Columbia Journal, and an Adjunct Assistant Professor in Columbia’s Undergraduate Creative Writing Program. She has been longlisted for The New Quarterly's Peter Hinchcliffe Fiction Award, and her work can be found in PRISM International Magazine. Don't have a piece of work ready for revision?
