On both sides of the approximately 1,000 stone steps leading to Taiheisan Shrine, about 2,500 hydrangeas, including Western hydrangeas, eyebrow hydrangeas, and mountain hydrangeas, are in full bloom. These hydrangeas were first planted by the Lions Club in 1974, and the best time to see them is from mid- to late June. The stone steps are made of stones from the local mountains and were built with the labor and donations of believers.
