About the SpeakerA former editorial director of Chatto & Windus, and previous Chair of the Council of the Royal Society of Literature, Jenny Uglow is a biographer and historian. Her award-winning books include The Lunar Men: The Friends Who Made the Future, In These Times: Living in Britain through Napoleon’s Wars and Edward Lear: A Life of Art and Nonsense. As well as Thomas Bewick she has written on artists including William Hogarth, Walter Crane, Quentin Blake, and the lino-cutters Sybil Andrews and Cyril Power. Her current book is on the 18th century naturalist Gilbert White of Selborne.

There is a statue of Henry VIII at the entrance to Trinity College. There is an apple tree on the green lawn at the entrance of the College, which is the source of Newton&#39;s law of gravity. When you enter the courtyard of the College, the magnificent building brings a sense of awe. The front hall of the church is filled with jade statues of famous graduates from Trinity College, including Newton, Bacon, Tennyson and others.
