This February marks the 20th anniversary of LGBT+ History Month, in recognition of this important milestone Glasgow Libraries are delighted to host two events celebrating LGBT+ families at the Mitchell Library on Saturday 15th February. For our second event we welcome award-winning Scottish author Kirsty Logan to discuss her moving and immersive memoir about infertility, pregnancy and motherhood. In The Unfamiliar, shortlisted for the Saltire Society Scottish Book of the Year Award, Kirsty writes with wisdom, disarming humour and raw honesty to cast a fresh eye on motherhood and challenge our assumptions about pregnancy, gender roles, queer identity and what it means to be a parent. Kirsty is the author of three novels, three story collections, two chapbooks, a 10-hour audio play for Audible, several collaborative projects with musicians and visual artists, and around 300 short stories. She lives in Glasgow with her family, where she is currently working on film and TV projects in addition to two new books, a short story collection due to be published on Valentine’s Day 2025 and a very long novel not due to be published any time soon.

We came here on a spontaneous visit one Sunday afternoon in January and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our wee boy loved seeing the &ldquo;old fashioned house&rdquo; and was so well looked after by all the staff, from the cash register to the flat and back out again.

We went round twice (with a shift change between visits!) and the insight into one story of no doubt thousands like it in Glasgow was fantastic. Plus our boy thoroughly enjoyed colouring in his wallie dug. A hidden gem that is well worth the wander through Garnethill.

It is a dream castle. When I arrived, it was the April holiday, there were almost no people on the road, only the old buildings stood in the cold air, solemn and heavy, which was awe-inspiring.

It is said that it can be traced back to the famous William Conquest period. It was built to commemorate St. Diego. It took hundreds of years to build and has been around for nearly a thousand years. It is the oldest religious building in the entire Scottish region. It is also a must-see for tourists.

George Square

George Square is located in Glasgow city center and is very conveniently accessible by train or subway. On nice days, you can sunbathe and watch pigeons in the square. It is close to the famous shopping street, where you can buy souvenirs, clothes, shoes and socks. There are also many restaurants and eateries to choose from. 
George Square is a must-see attraction. In addition to admiring the architecture of the square;during different festivals, such as Christmas, the square is built into a Christmas Market, becoming a dynamic and happy atmosphere.
