Despite facing financial hardships as part of a single-parent family, Halley found solace in her horse, Snipaway, and the vast landscapes of the Wyoming plains and Rocky Mountains. With the help of scholarships, she pursued her education at the Colorado College and later obtained a master's degree from Harvard Divinity School. Halley has dedicated her career to the study of various social issues, including child-parent relationships, white privilege, and gender and sexual privilege. She has authored several books and contributed to numerous publications, showcasing her expertise on these subjects.
