Come join us for a special event to learn and experience the vibrant culture of the Tibetan community in Richmond. Immerse yourself in a musical performance by renowned Tibetan artists, a documentary screening by a local filmmaker, a panel discussion, and Tibetan tea and food. Saturday, October 5, 2024, 3:30-5:30PM Richmond City Council Chamber 440 Civic Center Plaza Richmond, CA 94804 Experience a musical and artistic performance by Tsering Wangmo Satho, a California-based Tibetan opera singer and dancer, and Tsering Dorjee Bawa, an award-winning actor and Tibetan music performer. Enjoy a screening ofSaranam Gacchâmi, a film by local filmmaker Priyanka Suryaneni. Immerse yourself in this captivating documentary that shares the story of Ven Thupten Donyo, a visionary Buddhist monk from the Himalayan foothills of Nepal, and his journey to establish one of the Bay Area's largest Tibetan monasteries, the Gyuto Foundation. This film has been selected for the Sacramento Independent Film Festival, Religion Faith International Film Festival, and LA Independent Women Film Awards. Kunjo Tashi, president of the Tibetan Association of Northern California, and Tashi Phunstok, former Secretary of the Department of Information and International Relations of the Central Tibetan Administration, will then join the artists and filmmaker for a special panel discussion. Afterward, try momos, butter tea, and other Tibetan dishes provided by Guru Curry House before heading to the Gyuto Foundation for an optional guided tour (begins at 6:00 PM).
