Join us for a fascinating talk on the history and fate of ten eighteenth century paintings depicting Homer's tale of the nymph Calypso and Telemachus. These paintings were once installed in the ceiling of the Long Gallery at Rathfarnham Castle, but were removed and sold with the contents of the house in 1913. This talk is part of the Dublin Festival of History. Admission is free. Parking available in the pay-and-display carpark adjacent to the Castle and in the pay-and-display carparks in Rathfarnham village and at Butterfield Avenue. Buses 16, 15b and 74 stop outside the Castle. Rathfarnham Castle is wheelchair accessible.

The Guinness Brewery in Dublin 8 looks very old from the outside, but it is very interesting when you go in. Be warned, to walk all the way through takes about an hour and there are no busses that stop in the park- they only drive through and stop either side, but the park itself is beautiful and easy to spend that much time wandering in, the deer are usually in the upper end of the park after the cricket field, there are a few food carts dotted around and also Dublin zoo located in the park
