The Braag CIC is thrilled to announce the launch of its highly anticipated event, The Braag 2024 Poetry Book Launch (Pond, Gannota). This captivating event will feature readings by the talented authors Nina Murray and Sarah Westcott, as well as an opportunity to mingle with fellow poetry enthusiasts while enjoying drinks and nibbles. The Braag CIC, supported by the esteemed New Writing North’s Young Creative Associate scheme, is proud to present two outstanding poetry pamphlets: Gannota: A Tale of Three Thimbles by Nina Murray and Pond by Sarah Westcott. Murray's Gannota delves into the life and mythology of Larysa Kosach, a renowned Ukrainian feminist thinker and poet. With an enchanting fairytale-like narrative, Murray explores generations of women, their struggles, and the profound losses they endure. Meanwhile, Westcott's Pond takes readers on a mesmerizing journey into a vibrant world brimming with captivating language. Through her keen observation of the natural world, Westcott crafts a unique language that captures the essence of ponds, rivers, and whales. This pamphlet delves into the intricate connection between humanity and the more-than-human, inviting readers to immerse themselves in its depths. To celebrate the release of these remarkable works, the book launch will take place at the prestigious Lit & Phil Library in Newcastle upon Tyne. This event is scheduled for February 26, 2024, from 6-8PM in the Loftus Room. Admission is free, and attendees do not require tickets; however, registering in advance will provide helpful email reminders and assist in estimating the number of participants. For those unable to secure a ticket due to sold-out availability, it is still possible to attend by emailing rsvp to thebraagcic@gmail.com. Please note that the venue is wheelchair accessible, and text versions of the readings can be provided in advance for individuals with hearing impairments. The Braag CIC is a distinguished publisher known for its collection of speculative fiction and poetry chapbooks, as well as its quarterly micro-journal Carmen et Error. With a focus on unconventional and imaginative literary works, The Braag CIC supports writers locally and globally, producing exquisite publications on a small scale.
