Join the community in honoring local artists, youth, family members, and partners who have made a powerful impact on Columbia County through Cirkus After School's creative programs. The Hudson Area Library is hosting a special event, "The Art of the Cirkus," on Thursday, October 12, 2023, from 6pm - 8pm. This after-hours gathering will pay tribute to the artists involved in the Bindlestiff exhibit and is free for all to attend. The exhibition showcases the unique artworks of craft, visual, and photographic artists who have collaborated with Bindlestiff’s Cirkus After School over the past decade-and-a-half in Columbia County, New York. From September 28 to October 14, 2023, visitors can enjoy these artworks, which are displayed throughout the library. The exhibition includes stunning photographs, hand-painted costume artifacts, wearable art, a slideshow, and video interviews with the artists. For a closer look, QR codes are displayed throughout the library, providing access to close-up views and process photos of the works. Bindlestiff’s Cirkus After School has been instrumental in helping youth become stronger learners, community members, and leaders through creative arts and physical discipline. With activities like after-school classes, summer programs, field trips, and collaborative projects, the program encourages self-expression, physical challenges, and inventive teamwork.
