In this inspiring discussion, Alison Kubler, Lydia Pearson and Joash Teo will explore the intersection of fashion and art in today’s world, where craftsmanship is honoured and prestigious galleries throw open their doors as places of fashion worship. Faced with more informed and engaged consumers than ever before, fashion companies embed storytelling and identity into their work. We know that designers today are pushing boundaries and reviving craftsmanship – how do consumers and designers fit in the arts sector and wider cultural landscape? Join us at State Library of Queensland for a conversation examining global and local movements such as sustainability and the digital landscape, and their influence on the way we create, consume, and connect with fashion as an art form. This conversation is presented in partnership withFashion Queensland.
About the Speakers: Alison Kubler (Chair) is the Editor of art and culture magazine VAULT , an art curator and an authority on the intersection of art and fashion. She also co-authored Art and Fashion in the Twentieth Century published by Thames and Hudson UK (2013). Lydia Pearson is synonymous with Brisbane and Australian artisanal fashion design. Brisbane’s iconic label Easton Pearson ran for almost 30 years until 2016, developing a reputation for light-hearted, unconventionally decorative, trendless clothing with a devoted clientele in many countries around the globe. Lydia is passionate about decorative technique, artisanal making, and independent design and is currently educating the next generation of fashion designers as a lecturer at QUT. Joash Teo is a leading Brisbane designer and couturier famed for red carpet glamour and impeccably constructed, signature silhouettes. Joash’s label Joteo has graced the cover of Harper’s Bazaar, featured in Vogue, and been worn on many red carpets including Cannes Film Festival, by celebrities from Abbie Chatfield to Dami Im.

There are many places in Brisbane city centre that are tempted to go and it is very convenient to take the bus, so I will come here to find places that must be punched in whenever I have time, and I will not miss one. Queensland State Library is a must-see place, located in the Queensland Library in the cultural district of Brisbane City Centre, Australia, on the south bank of the Brisbane River. In fact, I have walked a few times from the front of this building and I didn&#39;t expect it to be a library on the outside. Later, I asked people: The 1-3 floor of this building is the library. Sure enough, the museum is spacious, bright and quiet. You can enter directly without any formalities. The three-story layout has its own characteristics, and the space is varied and suitable for learning, reading, and Internet access. It has a strong practicality and artistic nature. Queensland State Library is refreshing in its style and loves the quiet place.

The Queensland Museum in Brisbane is the largest natural museum here. It houses many cultural relics related to Queensland&#39;s nature, history, and humanities. Among them are many paleontological fossils, reflecting the biodiversity here in ancient times. It is definitely worth a visit for archaeology enthusiasts.

The variety of vendors allowed for interesting browsing. Had some very unique Christmas gifts to bring back to Canada. Had a long stroll along Kangaroo Point and then breakfast on the South Bank where we read the newspaper... The decoration of the market was just wonderful.
