Stand-Up 101 (Sundays 1:00 - 3:00 PM) is an entry-level stand-up comedy course offered by the Coalition Theater in Richmond, VA. This in-person class, led by experienced comic Kade Wonders, is designed to help individuals find their voice and learn how to effectively channel it onstage through stand-up comedy. The class will run for 8 consecutive weeks, starting on January 21st. During this time, students will have the opportunity to develop their comedic skills and write an original 5-minute stand-up set. No previous comedy or stand-up experience is required to enroll in this course. Students will learn the basic concepts of joke writing, including premise, set up, and punchline, and will work on honing their material to make it authentic and accessible to audiences. In addition, students will have the chance to create, critique, and workshop their own material. The course will culminate in a class showcase performance where all students will have the opportunity to perform their original sets.
