The Centre for French & Francophone Research at UCL is pleased to announce an upcoming event on February 1, 2024, titled "Stability, Prosthesis and Collapse in Montaigne's Experience of Landscape." This event will feature a paper presentation by Dr. Alani Hicks-Bartlett from Brown University. 

Dr. Hicks-Bartlett's paper will delve into Michel de Montaigne's exploration of the natural world and its connection to the human body in his work, Essais. Within this context, Montaigne's use of ecosemiotic metaphors, portrayal of natural movements, and citation of shifting foundations and horizons emphasize the profound impact of landscapes on the individual's perception of self. The paper will examine Montaigne's quest for stability in a constantly changing world and the resulting negotiation between the environment and the human body.

The Centre for French and Francophone Research at UCL serves as a platform for scholars and students interested in French and Francophone studies across various disciplines, including literary studies, history, philosophy, art history, anthropology, global health, and the physical sciences. The centre aims to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and provide a space for sharing research within the university. 

The event will take place at UCL Chadwick Building, Room 2.18, located at Gower Street, London, WC1E 6BT. May you go to this millennium, the Temple of Knowledge. This is definitely a reason to go to the UK, the British Museum, you see thousands of times more than you can think. Teacher Diana&#39;s 3-hour explanation was great, thanking her professionalism for letting us see the dead artifacts lively.

After watching the Buckingham Palace changing ceremony, we arrived at Westminster Abbey. There were a lot of people in the queue, about an hour and a half before entering the church. There is a interpreter at the door, you can choose Chinese. Follow the team and the interpreter is also explained. My favorite is the Matisse-style painting window. The staff in the church is very high quality and the temperament is very good, which is awe-inspiring.

I thought it was a special ride on the Ferris wheel, but the London Eye made me hit the face! When the capsule reached the highest point, I suddenly understood why the British love to chat. The Thames, Big Ben and the debris building look like they are shining in the sun, and it is really different every day. After landing, I found that the photos were all taken as glass reflections. Forget it, leave some regrets to be true.

The Queen&#39;s favorite palace is very luxurious inside, but you are not allowed to take photos, you can only take photos outside. When I entered, I took a photo but was stopped by the staff. Knowing the daily life of the royal family, Windsor Castle is generally very quiet.
